In their six years of union, Patrick and Amy had many problems, but no of them were big like the credit card issue. Amy was a software engineer, which she was the main provider of the family while Patrick was the stay-at-home father.
No matter the amount, Patrick would buy things with Amy’s credit card, which he started to abuse his privileges, as he would buy things for his friends too, with the money Amy was earning.
The last straw was the gaming chair Patrick bought. When Amy confronted him, the frustration of her husband had made Amy furious.
“Yes, I took your card. What, you wanted ME to ASK?” Patrick asked.
As Amy wanted to teach her husband a lesson, she offered her husband to host the next gaming night. As Patrick was excited, and unaware of Amy’s plans, he exclaimed, “Babe, this is going to be epic! They’re going to freak when they see the setup!”
Amy said that she was the one who came up with the idea, she would be the one who will be in charge of everything. Then she sent her husband to buy snacks, drings and food.
Then as her husband left, Amy changed the gaming chair with an old and uncomfortable chair, and hid the new chair of Patrick.
Patrick returned with his gaming friends, and when they entered to the living room, Amy saw how proud Patrick was for he bought a new gaming chair.
“Gentlemen, prepare yourselves. You’re about to witness the throne of the gods,” he said as he went towards his gaming station.
As people entered to the gaming room, everyone were confused. “What the…?” Patrick was shocked.
“SURPRISE!” Amy shouted, “We’re kicking it old school tonight!”
As Patrick’s friend laughed, “That’s one impressive gaming throne, Pat!” One of the friends said.
“Oh, that fancy chair? I returned it. Needed some extra cash for these gorgeous shoes. What, you wanted ME to ASK?” Amy said, as the friends were shocked.
After the friends of Patrick left, they were alone now, as the night had put it’s weight on them. “I… I didn’t see it from your perspective. I’m sorry,” Patrick started.
“It’s about respect, Pat. We’re partners, in everything,” Amy said.
And surprisingly, Patrick changed a lot after he understand the mistaked he made over the years. Few months after the chair surprise, Patrick showed to Amy that he created a game, which changed their future. “This… this is for us. For our family,” he said, as Patrick and Amy hugged and kissed.
