BLACK FAMILY ADOPTED THE WHITE BOY NO ONE WANTED TO ADOPT

Back in 2018, Dominique and Kevin Gill had became foster parents of 10-year-old Andrew. As he had no contact with his biological parents, Andrew had went from one foster home to another one, throughout his upbringing.

The social services had described Andrew as a “troublesome” boy, and that he would become angry easily. Many refused Andrew, but Dominique and Kevin Gill were sure that they would care and change his behaviour.

Andrew moved in with them later, to their villa in Nashville, Tennessee. There were no other family who were willing to adopy Andrew.

In their interview with WBIR Channel 10, Kevin and dominique had talked about Andrew, and explained that they didn’t contacted much socially in the first place.

”During his first week with us, he sat in his room with the door closed, looking at old photos. He didn’t want to talk,” they said.

Along with their biological children, the family had struggled to comunicate with Andrew. But through love, and time, Andrew understand that they were there to love him, and care for him. They were ready to give whatever he needed.

After that, the children started to get along incredibly well, and play together. When Andrew understand that they were trying to be his family, he let his guard down, and tried to be their family too.

”Our mindset was to help him until he found his permanent home,” Dominique said, when the social services started to look for an adoptive family.

”But after the second adoption fell through, I realized that God placed Andrew in our lives for a reason. God made sure the adoption didn’t work out so that he could come back to us,” Dominique said.

So, Molly Parker, the social worker, took Andrew to meet with his new family, and when they arrived at the park they were supposed to meet, Andrew saw his foster parents.

“I just turned around the corner and saw everybody,” Andrew said.

“They asked ‘will you?’ and I said ‘yeah!’”
