Jen was together with Jack for almost two decades, who was her ex-boyfriend. When Jen learned that Jack was having an affair, as she was devastated, she left him. Six months after they got separated, Jack got married.
As Jen found herself a good man, and while they were on their first year, she learned that she was pregnant.
Jack would send her messages on her birthdays and other special days which Jen would leave them unanswered. Few months later, Jen learned that after an accident, Jack passed away. On top of that, she also learned that Jack’s wife was expecting too.
Then a solicitor had contacted to Jen about the will Jack left behind. She learned that she was the primary inheritor of Jack’s estate. He also left something to his parents and nephew too, but the majority of the inheritance was going to Jen.
As Jen was sitting at her kitchen table, she was reading the letter from Jack. As she was reading, she was also hearing Jack’s voice. He was apologizing for his actions while they were together, and expressing his love for Jen. He wrote that he wanted Jen to be happy, and stated that he is leaving his estate to her.
Then he explained that how his wife manipulated him for marriage, and how their marriage was based on deceit and netrapment. He stated that his wife was seeing him as a bank account, and he wanted for Jen to not to concern about his wife and child.
On the coming days, Jen had received many calls about Jack’s wife about the inheritance they weren’t able to receive.
Jen accepted Jack’s offer, as she took the estate from Jack’s wife, for her own family’s future. Few days after Jack was buried, she went to visit his grave, where she thanked him for his last great gesture, and bid him the last farewell.
THE NOTE WOMAN FOUND ON HER BOYFRIEND’S FRIDGE SHAKED HER WORLD
As Chloe went into Jack’s kitchen, she was thinking of cooking dinner. Then she noticed the note on the fridge. Under a magnet they bought from Carribean, the note was written as, ”Love You, Bun!”
She then went back in time.
She met with Mike when she was in university. Mike was a popular football player who was studying business management. Chloe was a law student, and their meeting was an accident, where Chloe stumbled into the wrong lecture.
As their relationship got progressed, they were looking for a united future. But despite their same desires, Mike never introduced Chloe to his family. Mike had a wealthy family, and he didn’t even needed to study, as he was going to work under his father.
“But I didn’t have a choice,” Mike would say. “My father demanded that I get a degree so that I can uphold the family name properly.”
After their graduation, Mike broke up with Chloe. “Look, Chloe,” Mike said. “You’ve been great. And we had a good thing as students, but now, I’m ready for something more. I’m running one of my father’s businesses successfully, and I need someone on my level.”
That was hurtful for Chloe. Two years after that, she met with Jack at a walkathon to raise money for animals. For Chloe, Jack had everything Mike hadn’t. He was kind, compassionate and caring for Chloe.
And now years later she received a blow from past, in Jack’s kitchen. When Jack saw Chloe looking at the fridge, his face turned pale.
“Chloe, we need to talk,” Jack said in a nervous tone.
“Mike is my stepbrother,” Jack revealed, as he talked about his family drama, where he described Mike as a spoiled tormentor of his childhood.
“Do you know he almost stopped our parents’ wedding?” Jack continued. “He said that his father was too well-established to be marrying my mother, who was a nurse at the time.”
“It’s only been a few nights, Chloe,” Jack said. “I was trying to figure out how to make it work. You have to understand, I’ve always been in Mike’s shadow. When he moved back with the family after university, he brought stories of his successful business and the girl he’d let go.”
“So you knew about me?” Chloe gasped with shock.
“Yes, and no. Mike didn’t share personal things with me; he spoke about you, sure. But I didn’t get to see any photos — you know he didn’t post you.”
“And then when I met you, it became evident that you were the same person. I should have told you a long time ago, but we’ve had such a good thing going,” Jack said.
“So, why now? Why are you telling me now?” Chloe asked. “And why is that magnet on the fridge?”
“We had a family dinner last night, and I asked my mother for our grandmother’s ring. It was always going to be mine to give to my partner. I’m that serious about you, Chloe,” Jack slowly explained.
“What?” Chloe was shocked as she didn’t believe they were ready for that.
“It’s a thought I’ve had for some time,” Jack continued. “But I wasn’t going to do it immediately. And anyway, Mike flipped out at the table. He has known that we’ve been together for some time now.”
“And then?” Chloe wondered.
“And then, he came home with me last night. We had beers and spoke about you, and how I was grateful that I had gotten to meet you.”
“I just know that I threw junk food at him and asked him to see himself out,” Jack said.
“So, he wrote the note and put the magnet on the fridge?” Chloe asked.
Since the truth was revealed, Chloe was struggling with it. Earlier that day, everything was perfect for her. She then thought about how she doesn’t know anything about Jack.
As Chloe didn’t understand why Jack didn’t just told her the truth, that Mike was his brother, “He always does this,” Jack said. “He comes in and ruins everything.”
“I don’t know what else to tell you,” he continued. “But this is just how life is when Mike is in it. It’s the Mike show, Chloe. Do you think you could make us something to eat now?”
After that, Chloe left Jack’s house, and focused on her own life as she didn’t wanted to be a part of this life.
