PARENTS WAS AFRAID FOR THEIR BABY TO RECEIVE MEAN COMMENTS FOR SHE WAS BORN WITH A BLACK SPOT ON HER FOREHEAD

Vienna Brookshaw, daughter of Celine Casey, from United Kingdom, started to their journey in April of 2021, when Vienna was born.

As the doctors gave Vienna to her mother, Celine, she noticed the birthmark in between her eyebrows. At first, she was thinking that she did something wrong in her pregnancy, that resulted with it.

But doctors stated that there are not health condition that would affect Vienna’s life, related to her birthmark. But Celine Casey was sad, because she was afraid that her daughter would be bullied because of her birthmark in school.

Her condition is named, congenital melanocytic nevus. Each year, 20,000 babies are born with this birthmarks.

As it is a rare condition, there are no information to confirm that her birthmark would grow bigger or not, as Vienna grows. But Casey was sure that she didn’t wanted her daughter to be bothered by that.

The mother stated, “We love seeing her grow on her journey, and we can’t wait for the day that she does grow up and can speak for herself so we can hear her opinion, we’d love her no matter what, even if we did keep the birthmark.”

As she first contacted to NHS, they refused to fund Vienna, since her opeartion was not a necessity, and cosmetic, Casey started a GoFundMe page, so she would be able to afford the surgery.

As Casey stated, the people who saw Casey’s daughter, Vienna, were acting different than they would to other children. They were looking with different eyes to her baby, and the parents were not comfortable with the looks their daughter receiving. So they wanted to remove the birthmark from their daughter’s face.

In just 24 hours, the page received $52,000. But this was not enough, since during the COVID period the hospital prices were rising, so they needed another $27,000.

Casey stated, “Everybody has things they’re insecure about on their body, and the doctor said he’d respect that, but with Vienna, it wasn’t going to affect her mental health right now. But we didn’t see it as that, she’s going to start school when she’s three, and younger kids are so smart, they point out stuff like that.”

Now, as Vienna is two years old, through the operations she underwent, her face is now birthmark free. Her mother, Casey, is giving updates from Vienna’s life from the social media account she created for her daughter.
