WOMAN WAS DEVASTATED WITH HER FIANCE’S GIFT, AFTER SHE BOUGHT A PS5 FOR HIM
A woman shared her story of how she left early the Christmas, after the gift of her future husband, where they attended the Christmas gathering of her future in-laws. She was shocked with the gift she receive, after she bought a PS5 to her fiance.
The 30-year-old woman shared her story on Reddit’s r/AITA subreddit. She explained that she is engaged with her 37-year-old pediatrician fiance for six months. OP stated that she is working as a hairstylist. For this year, she had forced her budget, and bought a PS5 for her fiance, as a Christmas gift. She bought it from one of her relatives, since she couldn’t find it anywhere else. OP shared that it was a struggle.
She then explained that her fiance had opened a private practice with some of his colleagues, and the financial status of him was rising. So for that reason, he gifted his old apartment to his parents, and his car to his brother. He did those without talking with OP.
As the OP stated the things she might need, and use to give him hints about to gift, he would get for her, her fiance had listened to her. Then, her future in-laws had came to their house for Christmas gathering. As they started to share their gifts with one another, her fiance gifted OP a pack of toothpicks. As OP was confused, her fiance’s sister started to laugh. Then her fiance said that if she is going to accept his gift, or he should give it to his niece, as he thanked for the PS5 and said that he loves her.
OP lost it at that moment, and went to bathroom to cry. She was feeling devastating. As her fiance came and said that he was just making a prank, she started to yell at him for his prank which he planned with his sister.
As she went to her mother’s house, her future in-laws had called her and stated that she ruined the Christmas, as added that she was acting childish.
But her own family was on her side. On the next day, her fiance came to her door with his actual gift. As he apologized, as he stated that it was his sister’s idea to pull a prank on the OP.
A Redditor responded to the story as, “NTA: so he thinks it’s a good thing to humiliate you in front of his family and his family thinks it’s okay to humiliate you even more. Especially the sister for recording your reaction? Honestly I’d throw his “ actual “ gift at him and take back the PS5 and say that’s my Christmas gift to myself. Santa doesn’t give presents to naughty people.”
