The iconic country name we are talking about is at the age of 77 currently, and she has no sings of slowing down.
She was born in 1946, in Tennessee. She had 11 siblings. She had stated that her family was poor, but there were lots of love in the family, towards the members of it. She said that her whole neighborhood was poor, as her family was one of them.
Her mother had twelve children at the age of 35, and she stated that being a huge family, was something like a tradition at their family, since her grandmother had mothered many children too.
She had stated, “I like to think that I got the best of my dad and my mom.”
Since she was a little girl, she was known with her talent towards music, and her angelic voice. She stated that she was singing at the church, where her grandfather was preaching. But she admitted that she was not the best singer at the house.
She loved creating songs, as she shared, “I’ve been writing since I was seven years old. I’ve always got something around to write on—chewing gum, papers, napkins in a restaurant—I never know when an idea is going to hit me…”
She explained that her mother would sew her dresses from the fabric scraps that she would find in their house, and she owes her style to her childhood memories.
She explained, “…She had bright red lipstick, long red fingernails. She had high-heeled shoes, little floating plastic goldfish in the heels of them, short skirts, low-cut tops, and I just thought she was beautiful. When people would say, ‘She ain’t nothing but trash,’ I would say, ‘Well, that’s what I’m gonna be when I grow up.’
As the country icon explained, she had no boundaries in her mind, in terms of her fashion choices, and for that, her grandfather had physically punished her.
The country icon we are talking about, the one and only, Dolly Parton. At the age of 77, she has a networth, over $500 million.
As it is reported, Parton had wrote more than 3,000 songs in her career. In her career, she received many nominations of Grammy and Oscar awards.
As she is 77 at the moment, she doesn’t show any sign to slow down, as she is still having tours, and many performances.
Since 1966, she is married to her husband, 81-year-old Carl Dean, with whom she met when she was 18 years old.
For her husband, Parton had shared, “I married a really good man…We’ve just been best buddies and best friends…He understands me, he gets me…”
