65-year-old Kevin Sorbo, is the name when we think of Hercules, as he starred in the show, “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.” He starred in the show for six seasons, from 1995 to 1999.
He met his wife while they were working on the show, Sam Sorbo. They had married in 1998, and throughout their relationship, they had welcomed three children. Braeden, Shane, and Octavia Sorbo.
A year before their marriage, Kevin Sorbo had received a life threatening experience, when he was working on the Hercules show.
As he was working in his TV show, he had some health conditions that nearly ended his life. He had an aneurysm, and then he received three strokes. In result of that, he almost lost his arm, and had problems with his sensory system.
There was a ringing in his head that it was not stopping, he also had problems with his vision and it was hard for him to keep his balance. And his recovery took two years.
He stated how he felt things and cold feeling in his left arm. And after he went back to America, from New Zealand where they shoot the show, while he was in the gym, he had an incredible pain in his arm.
He went to a chiropractor in result of his pain, and when he left, he had three strokes, as he recalled,
“I had an aneurysm in my arm and I believe the crack of the neck accelerated the aneurysm…I believe, and a few other doctors believe, is that when he did that motion, it sent the blood clots that were going downstream to go upstream…and threw the clots into my brain…”
Later on, he had problems with his vision and balance, which made him think that he might lost his life.
With his condition, he needed to change his work hours. He was working 14 hours a day while he was shooting his show, but after his condition, he had changed it to 1 hour a day. He admitted that it took three years to recover from everything.
“…Actually, she said if I hadn’t had the strokes, she doubted we would have stayed together. Because of my life — my work and the craziness involved. I was married to [“Hercules”] more than anything or anybody…” Kevin said about his wife.
He also added that he had found god, in his way of recovering from his conditions, but that also created some problems in his career.
“…with God I finally got to a point where I was told by a couple of people that I had to look at it as a gift…” he said.
“It was sad to me, you know, my manager and agent for so many years said that we can’t get you jobs anymore, work with you because of you being a Christian, being a conservative…” he stated about being taken in the blacklist from the Hollywood.
“…in general, the whole of Hollywood has shifted. And that left an opening for the church people to come in and say, ‘Well, we need some entertainment. Let’s give this a shot.’…” said his wife, Sam.
He also spoke about the being a masculine man in todays show business. He stated that people want to see the conflict of a macho man and softer man. And with this clash, Kevin wants to see more of the man that is responsible for his family, that tooks care of his family and protects them.
