THE RESTAURANT MANAGER HAD HELPED THE OLDER WOMAN WHO COULDN’T PAY HER BILL
A Redditor with user name, u/littleaprilroses, had shared a story on the subreddit, r/TalesFromYourServer. The Redditor had explained that there was an old lady that came to the restaurant that th OP was working.
The OP, had stated that the old lady wanted to sit in a quiet place, since she was going to meet with her son, and wanted to hear him. Since there were no openings at the booths, where they were quieter than the dining room, she had waited for 45 minutes to have a sit.
As she waited for son, he didn’t arrived, as the OP had shared, “I noticed about 30 minutes later that her son still wasn’t there. Another 30 minutes pass and she’s still sitting alone, poking at her food and checking her phone constantly. Later that night the server who’d been helping her was talking to my manager about what to do with table 11.”
Then the OP had learned that her son was going to pay the bill, and since he doesn’t showed up, or contacted her, she was stressed and cried. “That was the table I’d put her at, so naturally I asked what happened. Apparently her son never showed up or called to cancel, and on top of that he was supposed to be the one paying. She didn’t have enough money to cover her dinner and had started crying in the booth and saying a black cloud was hanging over her.”
Then the manager of the restaurant had went to the table of the lady, and talked to her. “Everyone felt super bad for her so my manager went to her table and said that it was okay for her to leave without paying for the food. She apologized several times and promised to return tomorrow to pay for her food.”
As the OP had shared, the lady had tried to contact with her son, as she wondered where he was. OP was surprised that she wasn’t mad at him .” As she was leaving I heard her leaving a message on his voicemail asking if he was okay and what was going on. She wasn’t even mad! Just worried that something might have happened. That boy better have a damn good reason for bailing on his mom l:<. If I ever see her in there again with a young man I'm going to be sure to send him a couple low-key stink eyes.” Here are some of the comments from Redditors.
