THE PARENTS ABANDONED THEIR DAUGHTER WITH THEIR BEST FRIEND, AND TRIED TO CONTACT HER SEVEN YEARS LATER
A 17-year girl had shared her story on Reddit’s r/AITA subreddit. The Redditor, with the username, u/Intelligent_Horse_, the girl stated that her parents left her to her to their best friend when she was ten years old, and seven years later, they tried to contact her.
She had shared that her parents decided to take a trip when she was ten, and since she was little, they left her with their best friend. She explained that the best friends of her parents, which she named, Pete and May, were living in a Ranch at Montana. It was a huge change for the OP, since she was living in California.
She was incredibly upset, and angry with her parents at the beginning, since she felt like she was abandoned. But with the great behaviour of Pete and May, she get used to her life at the Ranch, as she learned how to attend to animals, brush horses, etc.
Pete and May were like her parents, as they would take her to trips, and even gifted her a horse so she would take car of it.
She stated that she was seeing her parents once a week from time to time, and call each other, or send emails. As time passed, she felt that she wasn’t missing them.
And recently her parents had contacted her again, and stated that their trip is over, and now they will live together. They were talking about how they missed her, and happy to be able to live together again.
She explained her feelings as, “Which I think is really unfair because if they really missed me they wouldn’t have gone off traveling for seven years.”
OP had stated that she doesn’t want to live with her parents, after she spend so much time at the ranch, and in the nature. She explained, “After living so close to nature for so long, really getting into this lifestyle and spending so much time around the horses, I don’t think I can go back to living in the city. I don’t want to abandon my horse either, and honestly Pete and May feel more like my parents than my real parents at this point.”
The Redditors who read the story made comments regarding her issue with her parents, and her feelings towards living with them.
They had stated that there are probably things that she doesn’t know about the interaction of her parents with their “best friends,” and that she might be sold off by her parents, and she should confront them about the issue, to learn the truth.
