THE OLD LADY WHO RECEIVED HELP FROM THE STUDENT, WANTED TO TALK WITH HIS TEACHER, AFTER HE WENT TO DETENTION
Leo was a sweet boy. His mother raised him to be a kind an helpful, towards other people. Nine-year-old boy was always thoughtful, as his mother taught him.
As he was getting easily distracted, sometimes Leo would be late for his school, few minutes at most. But he would be late enough for his teacher, Mr. Kirk to be angry at him.
On one Monday, as Leo was rushing to his school, so he didn’t wanted to be late, he saw an old lady fell down. As he was a helpful kid, he went and checked the lady.
“Lady, are you alright?” Leo asked to the old woman.
The lady was sitting on the ground, as her eyes were wet, she said, “I twisted my ankle,” which Leo was sure that she was in pain.
“Can I help you up?” Said Leo, as he hold his hand towards the old people. As there were other people around them, Leo was the only one who helped her.
“Thank you,” the woman said to Leo. Her feet was hurt, so she was not able to walk on her own.
“Wait here,” Leo said to the woman, when he noticed that she couldn’t walk. He rushed to the bodega, and asked for ice. Then he came back and helped the lady, as he applied ice press on her ankle.
As she looked at Leo, she asked, “What’s your name?”
“My name is Leonardo, but my friends call me Leo.” Leo smiled.
“It’s nice to meet you, Leo, thank you for your help,” the woman said. As she received help from Leo, he helped to the lady to go a nearby clinic. As Leo let the woman enter the clinic, and receive help, he rushed back to his school.
But he was late, so Mr. Kirk was angry. He shouted, “Leo!”
“You’re late AGAIN!”
Leo said, “Sorry, Mr. Kirk!” He continued, I stopped because…”
“I don’t want to hear excuses, Leo! Sit down please, you’re disrupting the class.” Mr. Kirk said.
After the class, Mr. Kirk wanted to talk with Leo. “Leo, it’s time you learned to be responsible. You have detention every afternoon for the next two weeks.”
“But Mr. Kirk…” As Leo was about to speak, Mr. Kirk cut his words, “No excuses, Leo, not another word, or I make it three weeks!”
That meant that Leo was going to miss his baseball pratice for two weeks. The next day came with it’s surprise. After the luch, the headmaster announced that there will be an assembly at the gym of the school.
Leo and his schoolmates were waiting for headmaster to talk. Headmaster entered and said, “Children,”
“I’m very proud to say that we have a hero among us. Yesterday one of our students distinguished himself by helping out a lady in distress.” the headmasted continued.
“That lady, Mrs. Dancy, has brought this incident to my attention and she has decided to reward our school and this student with a generous donation that will enable us to build our very own indoor pool!”
“I want you to meet our benefactress, Mrs. Dancy.” Said the headmaster. Leo couldn’t believe his eyes, because Mrs. Dancy was the woman Leo helped yesterday. She was looking sad yesterday, but today, she was smiling.
“Leo!” Said Mrs. Dancy, “Please come here!”
Leo was shy, as he was blushed. He slowly walked towards Mrs. Dancy. She hugged Leo, and the headmaster patted on his head. Then his friends had praised him, as they cheered.
“Leo, was that why you were late for class? You stopped to help that lady?” Asked Mr. Kirk as they left the gym.
“Yes, sir, Mr. Kirk,” Leo answered.
“But why didn’t you tell me?” Mr. Kirk continued.
“You told me you didn’t want to hear excuses, sir…” Leo responded.
“Well Leo, then I have to apologize to you. I should have listened. No more detention for you!” He smiled.
