THE LOVE STORY BETWEEN CATHERINE ZETA-JONES AND MICHAEL DOUGLAS, A PEEK IN THEIR RELATIONSHIP
With their 25 years of age gap, they have been together for two decades, and as they got older together, their connection grows stronger.
Douglas was first marrşed to Diandra Luker, back in 1977. They had a marriage until it was 1995, and they had spent five years in their divorcement process. It is reported that he lost 30 millions in his divorce with Luker.
He even stated that their marriage needed to end ten years ago from their divorce, as he was in regret, not ending it before. They had welcomed a son together, Cameron.
Catherine had said that she met with Douglas in Deauville Film Festival, back in 1996, as he was the one that wanted to meet, and when she found that he wanted to meet with her, she got nervous, as she stated.
Their mutual friends, Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith had intoduced them to each other. As she stated, Michael was very gentleman towards her, as he wanted to sit next to her.
As Michael stated, after seeing her in Zorro, he asked his assistant to learn that if she could have a drink with him or not. His assistant had said that it is possible, but they have only one night available.
“You know, I’m going to be the father of your children.” Douglas said to her in their first meeting.
Douglas thought that he had a good start, but Zeta-Jones said that it was enough talking, and said goodnight to him. Later on, Douglas had sent her flowers, and apologized to her.
After nine months, from their first meet, they were having long talks, and dinners together, and that made Catherine wonder, why were they not together. When she spoke about that matter to him, Douglas said that he thought she had no interest in him.
For a long time, they went on a friendly relationship, but in 2000, they got married at New York’s Plaza Hotel, with a wedding worth of 1 million pounds.
His son from his first marriage, Cameron, was his best mand in the wedding. They are also born on the same day, only difference is that they have 25 years between their birthdays.
When she was asked about their age gap, and that Michael is on the same age with her parents, she had said that, “Never. And Michael never makes me feel like that.” And she added, “he is the kindest man I have ever met in my life. His sense of humor, he is actually quite funny in his show. But he is my best friend.”
Back in 2013, they had some trouble in their marriage, to think, and after eight months, they got back again.
Back in 2021, they had celebrated their 21st anniversary. As Catherine had celebrated from her social media with a picture of them too. She had wrote that she was lucky to have him on her side.
They are using social media to show their love towards each other. They celebrate each other’s days and their birthdays, with love words.
On the Valentine’s Day of 2020, Catherine had shared a picture of them kissing, as she had mentioned about Douglas as her forever Valentine.
“The constant is love and respect. We’ve never, ever lost our sense of humor, and we enjoy each other’s company.” Catherine Zeta-Jones said in an interview, as she made comments about their trips that she loves.
Together, they had welcomed two children. Their first child, Dylan was born in 2000. He had followed his parents and currently trying to find his place in the show business. Their second child, daughter Carys, is following a fashion career, as she is 15.
Their son, Dylan, was with his mother in the premiere of National Treasure: Edge of History, back in December of 2022. He made a joke when they were interviewed, and said that he never gave his mother a feedback, as she was an Academy Award holder and doesn’t need any.
His mother had laughed his comment, and said that it is a good thing to hear feedback. After he was asked that the best advice his mother had given him, “Be yourself,” he said.
She had said to her son that, “always be true to yourself.”.
