A WIDOWED WOMAN HAD FOUND TRIPLETS THAT THE SPITTING IMAGE OF HER LATE SON, ON ANOTHER TOWN

–Story of the Day–

Dorothy had lost her son, Derek, when he was 17 years old. And 3 months ago, she had lost her husband too. He was the person who she had got support, when she was dealing with the loss of her son.

But now, she was all alone, depressed and devastated.

For more than a month, she had mourned the loss of her husband. But suddenly, one day, she had remembered the last wish of her husband, Morgan.

“Darling, you know these docs will tell you that I won’t die…that I’ll somehow make it, but the truth is, I don’t think I have much time. So there’s one last thing I want you to do for me.” He had said to his wife before passing.

“Please stop saying such things, Mogan!” Dorothy said to her husband.

“You are not going anywhere, okay? And I’m not going to give in to any silly wish of yours. You can tell me whatever you want once you’ve recovered and returned home.”

“Please, honey. Listen to me carefully…I want you to go to my hometown and find a woman named Linda Fleming. You,” he coughed. “You must ask her forgiveness…she- she….” Said Morgan to his wife, and passed away.

“Morgan! What happened? Doctors! Nurse!” she shouted, but when doctors and nurses had arrived, Morgan was long gone.

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Weaver,” the doctor said to her, “Mr. Weaver is gone.”

She had arrived to his childhood home, and started to look for that Linda Fleming woman, as her husband wanted her to do.

The walls were filled with his pictures, as made her feel more depressed. She decided to take a stroll out in the streets for she needed a divert from thinking.

As she was standing on the beach, a ball came towards her. Then a boy said, “Sorry, I didn’t want to hurt you.”

She had looked at the young boy with a smile, but she was shocked with the resemblance of the kid with her own son, Derek.

She had followed the triplets to their home, and it was a close distance between her husbands childhood home.

On the next door, she went to their home and called, “Hello? Is anyone there?

“Yes?” said one of the boys, as he opened the door.

“Good day, sweetie. Can I please talk to your mommy or daddy? Are they home?” Dorothy asked.

“Mommy is sick, she went to the hospital, and daddy doesn’t live with us.” The little boy said.

“Good lord!” she said, “Are you staying here alone, honey? Is there anyone looking after you?”

“Mrs. Green used to come to our house, but she fell and hurt herself. So I stay with my brothers Sam and Harry. Mommy promised to return soon.”

“What’s your name, honey? Have you eaten anything?” asked Dorothy to the little boy.

“My name is Tom. Mommy left us some bread. But I don’t want to eat it. I am hungry, and Sam and Harry are also hungry.”

“Well, then, Tom. How about some sandwiches and cookies? I can come inside and make them for you. Would you like that?” asked Dorothy again.

“Yes! Cookies are my favorite! Mommy also bakes cookies for us!” said little boy.

“Well, then, let’s make some for you!”

“When did your mother go to the hospital, Tom? Did you know which hospital she went to?” asked Dorothy.

“She went two days ago. I have her address!” said Tom, as he pulled a drawer and gave her a note.

“The doctors gave me this when the ambulance took mommy away.” Said Tom.

She got shocked as she read the note, because their mother was the woman she was looking for, Linda Fleming.

She decided to wait with the boys, as she didn’t want to leave them alone again.

When Linda came back, she said with a panick, “Who are you? And what are you doing in my house?”

“Oh, don’t get me wrong. I can explain everything….” Said Dorothy, and explained everything.

“Oh, I am sorry…I was just scared. I’m Linda Fleming, and you are—” Linda said.

“Dorothy Weaver,” she said her name, with a smile.

“Weaver?” Linda murmured, “I mean…”

“I know you know Morgan, Linda. He told me to come here and apologize to you. It’s strange that your children resemble my son so much. At one point, I thought my husband cheated—” she was saying and Linda cut her sentence as she said,

“Please, Mrs. Weaver,” Linda cried. “There’s nothing like that! I’m your husband’s daughter! He – He is my father!”
“What?” Dorothy said, as she was shocked, “But Morgan never mentioned it!”

“How could he, Mrs. Weaver? Because it was all his fault. It all started when….” Said Linda.

Then Linda told her story of how Morgan had left her and her mother 15 years ago.

“Oh, God! That’s shameful…I can’t believe Morgan did that,” Dorothy said.

“What happened to your mother, honey? And why are you and your children alone?”

“I would say history repeated itself, Mrs. Weaver. Mom died in an accident, and my husband left me because he didn’t want to look after our children. To be honest, I am surprised how my so-called father remembered me. He never came to even see me all these years.” Explained Linda.

“I am deeply sorry for that, Linda. I feel like it’s my fault too. I should have insisted on asking about his past. I think that’s why he wanted to ask for forgiveness in his last days. I’m glad he did that, at least.” said Dorothy.

“What? Oh, I didn’t know he….” Said Linda, and then Dorothy added, “He’s no more.”

“I can understand how terrible it feels to be alone. I fear somebody will call CPS and take my children away if they find out how we’re living. So I don’t let anyone inside. And that’s why I was scared to see you here. But thank you, Mrs. Weaver, for looking after them.”

“It’s all right, honey. Actually, I have an idea…” said Dorothy.

Dorothy took Linda and her children to her house, and they lived together happily, as a family.
