It was the Scandinavian maternity experts who started to use “skin-to-skin,” method, for the newborn babies, especially if they are preamture borns. The procedure was simple, making a skin-to-skin contact with the newborn baby, so the baby will feel the warmth of their parents body, and there will be connection with parent and the baby.
The procedure also known as, “kangaroo care,” as make the newborn feel more comfortable with the warmth of their parents. Natioonal Institute of Health had proved with their research that the procedure is reducing the pain premature babies are feeling.
Also, the procedure reduces the post-birth-stress of the babies, as it makes them recover rapidly, and gives them energy.
With the new procedure, the survival rate of the premature babies at the Scandinavian medical centers are raised to 70% from 30%.
The picture that was shared on the Danish Facebook group is showing the procedure, with a son who helps his father, as he uses skin-to-skin with one of his twin sisters.
“Skin to skin contact helps the baby to breathe better. The child becomes more calm and gains weight faster. Research shows that parents bacterial flora – compared with hospital bacteria – reduces the risk of serious infections in these delicate children.” stated by Swedish Professor Uwe Ewald.
