SHE WASN’T ALLOWED ON THE TOILET, BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T BOUGHT A COFFE FROM THE STORE
Amanda Harris, from Bournemouth, had stated that she wasn’t allowed to the toilet of Costa Coffee, because she didn’t had bought a coffee from the store.
Bournemouth Echo had stated that an employee had stated that it is their policy that people only could use the toilet of the store, unless they are customers.
On March 22, when she went to the store, the barista of the store had stated that the code that opens the door of the toilet is written on the receipt of the coffee, if she gets one.
Amanda had stated that it is her humane right to use a bathroom, especially for a lady of a certain age.
“My thought process was like, “Fabulous, I’ll go to Costa, I’ll have a wee, grab a coffee and then walk across with my coffee into PC World to do what I needed to do”” Amanda had said.
“He looked at me kind of a little bit blankly and, because I use humour to defend myself, I said: “What do you expect me to do – hold the coffee while I got to the toilet?”
And when she was told that she should buy a coffee if she needs to use the toilet. After that, she had found a bathroom to use freely, in Smyths toy store.
A representative of Costa Coffee, had stated about the incident.
“Costa Coffee believes in creating warm and welcoming environments in our stores, including offering customers access to toilets.” She said.
“Our toilets, including those with locks on the door, are primarily for our paying customers, however, we do appreciate that there are times and situations whereby team members should use their discretion and make an exception for non-paying customers.”
“This is especially true with children and pregnant women.”
