SHE REFUSED TO PAY FOR HER BOYFRIEND’S DINNER, AND CAUSED HIM TO BE BANNED FROM HIS FAVORITE RESTAURANT

A woman had shared her story on Reddit’s r/AITA subreddit. She explained that it was her boyfriend’s birthday, and they went to his favorite restaurant. She explained that she is a vegetarian, and doesn’t eat or pay for anything that has meat in it.
When we came to the story, she explained that she is dating with her boyfriend for a little more than a year. She sad that they had no toxic things towards each other, but the only problem was, as she wrote, “but there’s quite a bit of tension when it comes to me being vegetarian. The one thing John has a problem with is me refusing to spend my money on meat.”
She explained that she is not paying for anything, that has meat in it, since she started to make her own money, through her work. She explained, “I swore to myself that I would never spend a cent of it on meat.”
And on their dates, they usually split the bill, or sometimes his boyfriend pays it. She stated that if her boyfriend would order a meat-free meal, she would pay for it too, but he never did. OP explained, “When he pays for my food, I spend money on the activity. Normally concerts and festivals. That’s me paying €120+ on tickets and him spending maybe €50 on food.”
And they went to a fancy restaurant for her boyfriend’s birthday, which was the favourite restaurant of her boyfriend. She stated that her boyfriend had ordered the most expensive steak with salad, and a wine. After they finished their dinner, she asked the waiter to split the bill, which her boyfriend was surprised.
She explained, “He asked if I was joking and I said no. Then he told me he thought I was going to pay the bill, since it was his birthday and he had no budget for the meal. I asked him why he thought I’d pay since I’ve been very clear about my rule but he couldn’t give me a reason other than it being his birthday.”
Then OP stated that she would pay for the salad and wine, but he needs to pay for the steak, since she had promised herself, and he is aware of the situation. She explained, “He was furious with me and stormed off to the bathroom. I paid for my meal, the wine and the salad and waited for him to come back.”
OP waited for 20 minutes, and when her boyfriend didn’t left the restroom, she left. Then she found her boyfriend at the bench near their car, where he was shocked when he learned that she didn’t paid for the steak.
OP wrote, “I told him I’d paid for everything but the meat and he lost it. He started yelling at me, telling me I was selfish, that I needed to grow up. I stayed calm and told him he needed to go back and pay. He scoffed and walked away. I ended up driving home without him.”
