MOTHER HAD PUNISHED HER DAUGHTER AS SHE DIDN’T LET HER GO TO HER VACATION, WHEN SHE LEARNED THAT HER DAUGHTER HAD BULLIED HER CLASSMATE FOR SHE WAS A LITTLE OVERWEIGHT
A mother had shared a story on social media platform, Reddit’s r/AITA subreddit. She had explained that she punished her daughter, when she learned that her daughter had uninvited her friend, for she was a little overweight.
The mother explained that her daughter turned 18. And she was a single mother for the most part, until the father, Max, had decided to return, and get half of the custody. And to make his time, since he was away for five years, he had spoiled the daughter a lot, as the mother stated.
As Abby was having weight problems, she had lost some weight, which her mother had encouraged her as in every milestone, she gave her daughter a gift.
It was four months ago, that Abby wanted her mother to get her something big for her birthday, and don’t give her any gifts until it was her birthday. She wanted to have a vacation that her mother would pay for her with the four months weight loosing gift, and adding them up to her birthday gift.
When her birthday had arrived, the mother had called the parents of the friends of her daughter, and found out that her daughter had uninvited her bestfriend, Betty, because as her daughter stated, “she is too chubby to look good in pictures.”
The mother had tried to talk with her daughter, Abby about how Betty would feel devastated, when she learns that she was left out. Abby said, “I didn’t work so hard for this vacation so my pictures will be ruined.”
The mother had stated that until Abby apologizes from Betty, she will not receive her vacation gift with her friends. As Abby was frustrated, she went to her father with the treatment she received from her father.
Them Max, her father, had called her and shouted at the mother, for making Abby cry. Then the mother had stated that she had bullied her friend because he had spoiled her. Then the mother had called Abby and stated that she doesn’t have to invite Betty to the vacation if she doesn’t want to, but she needed to apologize from her because she was thinking meanly about her weight.
Then, Abby didn’t and lied to her mother that Betty didn’t wanted to come, since she doesn’t feel good, and then the mother had talked with Betty, and she refused that she said that she wasn’t okay.
Abby was furious with the situation, and verbally bullied Betty with text she send, as the mother had described, “she sent a ton of hateful texts and body-shaming insults I can’t even write down.” Betty had shared the screenshots of the text Abby send her with the mother, and the mother had punished Abby, as she cancelled the vacation.
A Redditor had praised the mother as they said, “NTA Teaching your daughter to not be a horrible human being IS putting her first.”
Another Redditor commented, “I had an older person tell me that when I was in my early 30’s. She said I world regret allowing so much anger control my life and my decisions at this age, but I wouldn’t get it until I, too, was old enough to look back and see it. She was so right! I’m in my mid-60’s now and I’m so embarrassed about so many events in my younger years!”
