MOTHER GAVE HER DAUGHTER-IN-LAW PLASTIC JEWELLERY, AS SHE GAVE HER OWN DAUGHTER A DIAMOND NECKLACE
The mother had brought gifts to her own daughter, and her daughter-in-law. She gave her daughter a diamond necklace, while giving her daughter-in-law plastic earrings. Her son was furious, he shouted, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING MOTHER!”
She had tried to calm her husband down, as he was furious, and couldn’t hold himself. A new strange thing happened on the next day.
As the mother-in-law stated, she had tested her, and added that the plastic earrings had a key with them, that would open the chest of family heirloom. She had explained that it is a tradition of the family, that is passing through the generations.
The chest was in the basement of mother-in-law’s house. It was an old wooden chest, that was designed with engravings and metal decorations. The basement was dusty, as it was filled with family pictures, that went yellow with the years.
The woman had opened the chest with her plastic earrings that are shaped as the key. In there, an old diary and a beautiful golden jewellery set.
The diary was her husband’s great-grandmother’s. She had written her thoughts and feelings in there, and the amount of jewellery the chest had contained. Her mother-in-law had explained that now it is her turn to pass the chest to the new generation.
As the mother-in-law had showed her true intentions, the bride was happy that she got involved with the family tradition, since it meant that she was welcomed to the family, as a member. For her, the treasure she found was the trust her mother-in-law had gave her.
Then she explained that she gave her daughter a diamond necklace, because she needed a distraction about the tradition, and she needed to wait for the right time to talk about it.
With the occasion, she had felt connected with the family of her husband, and created a strong bond with her mother-in-law.
