MAN WANTED HIS MOTHER-IN-LAW TO LEAVE THEIR WEDDING
A man had a terrible experience in his wedding day. As the day was started happily, things took a quick turn after he asked his mother-in-law to leave the wedding. That caused some problems between the bride and the man.
The man shared his story on Reddit’s r/AITA subreddit. He stated that his bride and her mother were standing together, and at first, that didn’t caused any problems for the OP. But as time passed, OP started to feel weird things related to his mother-in-law.
He had a good relationship with his future in-laws, but at their wedding day, his mother-in-law had a strong perfume on her. Slowly, OP started to produce allergic reactions towards the perfume. His eyes were getting wet constantly, and he got the sniffles.
As he was hanging on, after his mother-in-law hugged him, he lost his battle. His thorat was sore, and his eyes got itchy. The headache was terrible. As he was fighting with the symptoms still, his bride asked that if he is okay.
“I told her I think her mother’s perfume was getting to me,” OP wrote. Some people tried to help him with some allergic medicine, but the pills were not enough to overcome his allergic reaction.
As the wedding reception started, OP said to his bride that he doesn’t want to take pictures, or be anywhere near his mother-in-law, and asked her to help him with his allergic reaction.
Then, his wife asked her mother that if she could stay away due to OP’s allergic reactions, but even if she did, there was no changes regarding OP’s situation.
Then, his wife asked her mother to wash off the perfume she was wearing, but her mother stated that it wouldn’t work since she sprayed it over her clothes.
Then OP asked that someone could bring to mother-in-law new clothes, or she could get a new one herself, with OP paying, and as that final solution, she might consider leaving. OP stated that they would visit her after the wedding with their cake.
” I understand the day was big for my wife, and she wanted her mother there, and I wanted her there too, but I wasn’t able to enjoy my own wedding,” OP wrote in his post.
And at the end, OP and his groomsmen headed outside of the wedding, and OP started to feel better. Then his wife came and asked how he was and when will he return inside, but OP stated that he will not go back inside, while the mother-in-law was there.
At the end of the day, OP was alone in their home, while his bride had stayed at her parents house.
Many Redditors, who read the story stated that OP did nothing wrong, and they agreed on one comment, “Bad situation, but you were being reasonable.”
“Mother > Husband. If possible i would annul the whole thing, she clearly showed OP her priority. And that won’t change,” a Redditor commented, “I could tell it was going somewhere like that when the MIL was her MOH. Seems too clingy,” another Redditor said.
