MAN BROKE HIS PROMISE TO HIS DYING WIFE, ABOUT HIS STEPDAUGHTER WITH DOWN SYNDROME

A man had shared his story of how he broke his promise he gave to his dying wife. The man stated that he was no longer able to care for his 30-year-old stepdaughter with Down Syndrome, as his dying wife wanted from him.

The man shared the story on Reddit, and wanted some advice from the Redditors. OP explained that his wife already was with her daughter, when they first met. The daughter was having problems, as she was born with Down Syndrome. She was not able to live alone, or control her impulsive emotions.

Simce his stepdaughter is five, the OP was with her, and cared for her. But he was afraid, when his stepdaughter become violent in her actions.

She started to punch, kick and throw thinhs away. Their friends stopped come over after their daughter’s actions started to become violent, as they were afraid of her.

OP needed to go to an hospital sometimes, due to the damage he received from his stepdaughter. She would hit his head, throw things at him and even she tried to choke him while he was sleeping.

The only person who would calm the stepdaughter down, was his wife. Even her caregivers would have problems with her.

After his wife was diagnosed with cancer, she only thinked about her daughter, and she cried for days, because she was afraid what would be of her daugter, if she dies.

Sadly, his wife reached to a point, where there were no available treatments for her to recover. On her deathbed, she asked for her husband to stay with her daughter, and not send her away to a care center.

“I promised her because I didn’t have the heart not to,” OP shared, but two months later, he couldn’t care for his stepdaughter.

She was angry that her mother was gone, and couldn’t understand that she was dead. She was mad that her stepfather had caused her mother’s absence.

The stepdaughter was stated that she would stop harming things, if her mother comes back. As it was becoming hard to handle, OP decided to send her to a caring center.

OP stated that he didn’t wanted to, but he had no other choice, as he was not rich enough to pay constantly to caregivers. He also admitted that he didn’t wanted to spend money for his stepdaughter.

Even though his wife left him everything she had, he had no other options than to send his stepdaughter to a caring center.

OP stated that his family called him an “evil stepdad and a mother’s worst nightmare.” After he shared his thoughts with his family, and he asked to other Redditors about the issue.

A Redditor stated, “You sound like a very compassionate person, but this isn’t sustainable. The kind thing is to find her a good place,”

Another one said, “This may be your wife’s worst nightmare, but her expectations for her daughter were wholly unrealistic, as your post makes clear,”
