JAMIE FARR HAD EXPLAINED THE PRAYER THAT CHANGED HIS CAREER AND LIFE, AFTER HIS RETURN FROM THE ARMY

As he stated, his family had taught him great values, as they were poor. His parents had agrocert store, and stand behind their son, whatever he decided to do with his life.

“In those days, you didn’t call them homeless – they were tramps or hobos – and they would stop in, and my dad would make them sandwich. They would ask if they could do anything in return, and my dad would say, ‘No that’s perfectly all right.’” Farr had explained the neighborhood he grew in.
“… I believed God had called me to be an actor, to entertain – even help – people. And I’d worked hard at it,”
In 1992, he was casted for the Guys and Dolls. He had acted as Nathan Detroit, in the revival for Broadway.

Later on, he had acted in “No Time for Sergeants” and “The Blackboard Jungle.”. After the movies, he was deployed on Korea and Japan. When he came back, he found out that his colleagues like Clint Eastwood, Dennis Weaver, and Robert Blake had their breakthrough’s, and he was left behind.
He learnt that a movie about the life of Jesus was producing, “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” the director was George Stevens. As Farr stated, he talked with his agent and said, “Meyer, they’re putting on this movie about the Bible. Look, with my great Middle-Eastern face, there’s got to be a part in it for me.”
But his luck was not up, and he was declined. As he went to the church, and prayed.

Then he got a call from the studio, and learnt that he was wanted for the role of, Nathaniel Bartholomew. Then he turned back, and prayed again to St. Jude.
Then he got called again, and this time, he was wanted for the role of Apostle Thaddeus. Later on, he learnt that Apostle Thaddeus was Jude Thaddeus–Saint Jude, the Apostle of the Hopeless.
“I like to think that he was my best man,” Farr said about St. Jude.
He had two children with his wife, Joy Ann Richards, and they are married for 60 years.
In 2011, Farr had stated, “I do so enjoy life that I’d hate to leave it.”
