INTERVIEW OF KIRSTEN DUNST HAD RESURFACED, ABOUT THE MOVIE WHERE SHE HAD KISSED BRAD PITT, AT THE AGE OF 12
As she was the 10-year-old Claudia in the movie, a girl that was turned into a vampire, and which led her to grow in mind, but having a child’s body, had led to a kissing scene with Brad Pitt, as she was 12 in real life, and Pitt was 31.
“That was the worst thing I did,” she said.
“And also having obviously to kiss Brad Pitt at that point. I was a little girl and he was like a brother to me and it was very weird even though it was a peck. I was very not into it.”
As after filming the movie, and in it’s promotion, she had stated, “I hated [the kiss] so much because Brad was like my older brother on set and it’s kind of like kissing your brother. It’s weird because he’s an older guy and I had to kiss him on the lips, so it was gross.”
The resurfaced interview is from 1994, and she is with her co-star, Samantha Matthis, who was 24 at that time.
“Yeah because, well, y’know what, I love Brad, he’s so nice… it was just, like, it feels awkward. I mean I’m 12, and he’s, like, 31 and it’s like, he’s a man. So why would I enjoy kissing him?” 12-year-old Dunst said.
“Maybe you’re not into kissing boys yet, so I can relate.” Said 24-year-old at that time, Samantha Matthis said.
“Well, especially because Brad is 31. I mean, he’s not exactly a boy.” Said Dunst.
This experience had affected her later life in terms of career choices too, as she rejected the offer to be in the America Beauty. As she said, “When I read it, I was 15 and I don’t think I was mature enough to understand the script’s material,”
“I didn’t want to be kissing Kevin Spacey. Come on! Lying there naked with rose petals?”
