Talented DWTS judge, Derek Hough had made his name in various areas of the entertainment industry. In his career, he received three Emmy Awards for his outstanding choreography.
He also worked as an actor, a singer and an author too, in the industry. He is also in the building business too. He had built his own house in Los Angeles.
He stated that building something and choreography resembling to each other, since both of them starts from an idea, and turns into something physical.
In 2018, he stated in one of the episodes of his Facebook series, “Life in Motion with Derek Hough,” he revealed that he is building his Los Angeles house from scratch. He stated that he started with the design, and now he is in the process of building.
He is living with his wife, Hayley Erbert, whom he met at the set of DWTS’s 21st season in 2014.
Together, the couple had created many memories, as they traveled, danced, performed on the stage and celebrated important things in their lives. During the COVID, they also supported each other in their house.
During the COVID, Hough said, “Being cooped up with my girlfriend, it’s been great.”
He explained that they were doing some activities to not get bored, which they called, “escape nights.” And the only thing the couple didn’t participate with the whole workd was, “quarantine baby boom.”
Instead, during the pandemic, the couple get a puppy. Hough was saying no, but during that time, he thought of the idea, and accepted it.
The couple married in 2023, 26th of August, in Monterey County, Califronia.
As they were engaged in 2022, they celebrated with their 106 guests in a redwood forets. As they were happy with their marriage and relationship, things changed with a health condition, which affected their lives.
Erbert needs an skull implant due to a burst blood vessel in her head, which is called cranial hematoma. The diagnosis came on the 7th of December, 2023, as Hough had announced from his social media account.
As Hough explained that his wife needed to have a craniectomy, where the doctors were going to remove a section from her skull to prevent pressure on her brain, DWTS star stated, “I ask for your positivity and prayers.”
On the 9th of December, Hough had updated his wife’s condition, as he stated that his wife is recovering now after the skull removal surgery, and a week later, he shared a video where they were walking.
“While this isn’t the holiday season either of us envisioned, it’s one that we’re incredibly grateful to have. We look forward to cherishing these moments with a deeper appreciation for life and the people in it.” He stated from his social media account.
The couple is now living in their Los Angeles home, where Hough had designed and built. The house is a combination of minimalistic perspective and a modern house. White walls and wooden floors with large windows.
There is a classy living room with creamy sofas, which could turn into beds. Their kitchen is a fucntional one, with a mesmerizing dining room. A black table is sitting at the dining room, and a black storage unit is standing.
Their garage holds white storage cupboards, and a pingpong table, for fun. At the huge backyard, the couple is doing their workouts.
The master bedroom has a king sized bed, and the bed has a wooden headboard. The windows are floor to ceiling, with their amazing view.
The master bathroom is another piece of work, where there is a ouble vanity, a shower, a bathtub, and a window to see outside.
