HUSBAND REJECTED HIS WIFE’S INTENTION TO EQUALIZE BOTH OF THEIR DAUGHTERS FROM PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIPS
A father had shared his story on Reddit’s r/AITA subreddit. The father explained that his own daughter is making more money than his stepdaughter, and his wife wanted to equalize them, with a suggestion that his daughter would give half of the money to her stepsister, and father refused it.
OP stated that his wife and himself, they had daughters from their previous marriages, and took their daughters to their marriage. Then he described his daughter as, “My daughter has always been athletic and outgoing. Growing up, she played basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, and even golf. In middle school, she picked up tennis and never looked back.”
OP explained that he also made his daughter get private tennis lessons, and now she is able to give lessons herself, by $75 for an hour, and is now making $1.200 weekly. And he stated that they tried the lesson’s and other things with his stepdaughter too, but she was not into sports, and she was working at the local burger shop, and she was making $200 weekly.
As she was jealous of her stepsister, she started to talk about it more, when her sister was able to buy whatever she wanted, as she bought the latest line Mac.
Then his wife, “suggested we have my daughter use her money to help my stepdaughter buy the same things or we cover the pay difference between the girls.”
As OP thought that she was joking, she was not. For an hour, they argued about how ridiculous her suggestion was. On the morning she argued again, and stated, “accused said I’m refusing because I’m playing favorites and that’s an AH move for a parent.”
The Redditors praised the father for his stance with his daughter, as she had no reason to share her income with her stepsister, while they talked how the wife was trying to make up her daughter’s failure with the succession of her step daughter.
“Your daughter has skills that are in demand and her salary reflects that. Your stepdaughter is starting out on a typical student career path and her salary reflects that. Forcing your daughter to fund your stepdaughter would be the height of unfairness.” a Redditor said.
And added that, “Your wife needs to stop trying to turn your home into a crabpot and let her daughter figure out where her own talents lie.”
Another Redditor suggested, “Is she into hair or anything? You can take a cosmetology course as a high schooler. You can get hella business offering cheaper services to peers. And that would be a good college job.”
