There are many reasons to paint trees, for example, the trees that are marked with orange, are meant to be cut down. There are many examples like that. There is a color code that means different things for trees, and many related to the health of the trees. If a tree is marked with purple, it means that the tree is on a private land, and should be leave alone.
At many parks, there are trees that are painted with white, on their bottom. And the reason behind that is simple. During the winter, sun might burn the botton of the trees, and the white paint, prevents trees to get sunburned.
It is like a sunscreen for the trees.
The temperature changes affects the health of trees. On the day, the sunlights warms the trees, and cause them to grow. And in the night, when the temperature drops, the tree gets cold, and then starts to shrink more faster that its growth.
The changes on the temperature damages the trunk of the trees. White paint helps trees to maintain their temperature, without getting affected from the sunlight, and the cold of the night.
