HERE ARE NINE FACTS FROM THE GOLDEN ERA OF HOLLYWOOD, WHICH ARE DISTURBING

As it is called the Golden Era of the Hollywood, it had some disturbing events and actions too. There are many secrets that many people doesn’t know from the time period, but some are revealed.

As the beautiful actress of the Golden Era of Hollywood, Joan Crawford, did a disturbing thing to achieve her beautiful look. As she stated in her autobiography, My Way of Life, she had soaked her eyes in boric acid, every once in a week.

She had stated, “while the masque is working, place pads soaked in witch hazel and boric acid over your eyelids and put on your favorite music.”

Another thing is, studios of Hollywood, were hiding actors’ sexuality, as they were making sham marriages for them.

In some contracts, they were giving or not giving payment regarding themoral clauses. In some contracts, “they forfeit the respect of the public.” Homosexuality was one reason for it. So to hide it, they were arranging sham marriages for the homosexual actors.

One example is the marriage of Rock Hudson. He had married with the secretary of his agent, Phyllis Gates. Hudson had revealed the situation in his biography.

Also, Rita Moreno had dated with Elvis, to take revenge from Marlon Brando. With Brando, Moreno had dated for eight years. As she stated, Brando had many affairs during their relationship.

She had accepted the offer of Elvis’ manager, when she was asked that if she would be interested to have a date with Elvis. “Elvis was sweet but boring.” Moreno had revealed in 2018.

She took her revenge, and made Brando jaelous, as she stated, “when Brando found out, it didn’t take long. He started to throw chairs. He was so angry. It was wonderful. And I just sat there as he threw chairs and carried on.”

Another disturbing fact is, daughter of Lana Turner, had killed her boyfriend who was abusive. On the 11th of April, in 1958, daughter of Lana Turner, Cheryl Crane, had killed Turner’s boyfriend, Stompanato, when he had threatened her mother, physically.

In the court, Turner had talked for his daughter, and when she had explained the situation, the judge had stated that it was a justifiable homicide, and Cheryl was released.

Next secret that revealed is that, Gene Kelly’s abusive behaviour towards Debbie Reynolds, in the set of, Singin’ in the Rain.

Debbie was 19, when she had starred in the Singin’ in the Rain, with Gene Kelly. In her memoir that was published in 2013, Unsinkable, Debbie had stated that, “He [Kelly] criticized everything I did and never gave me a word of encouragement.”

Another fact is from the legendary Charlie Chaplin. He was a known predator, as reports are suggesting. Chaplin had married with his 16-year-old co-star Mildred Harris, while he was 29, in 1918.

They had divorced in 1920, and later on, he married with 16-year-old Lita Grey, when he was 35, in 1924. They had an ugly divorce, as their marriage was unhappy and very public too.

He had dated with 22-year-old actress Paulette Goddard, in 1932. They stayed married for seven years. He later on married with 18-year-old Oona O’Neill, in 1943.

Next fact is, the mother of Natalie Wood, was a terrible mother, as reports are suggesting.

Mother of Natalie, Maria Zakharenko, had forced her to work, when she was 5. She had a terrible childhood, because of her mother. She couldn’t cry, as she wanted to when she was needed to. And as the reports are saying, her mother, Zakharenko had killed a butterfly in front of her, in order to make her cry.

Another fact is that, Frank Sinatra was an angry man. As he was one of the best crooners of all time, he had incredibly bad temper.

His wife, Barbara, had said that “Jekyll and Hyde aspect to Frank,” and added that he was, “an 18-carat manic depressive.”

Another fact from the Golden Era of Hollywood is that, Hitchcock was a stalker for Tippi Hedren. For the movie, The Birds, she was told by Hitchcock that they were going to use mechanic birds for the famous bedroom scene, but they used real birds.

And also, as she stated in her memoir, Tippi, Hitchcock had stalked her for a while, and tried to kiss her while they were on his limo. And, he had a door that was opening to her dressing room, from his office.
