HER BABY HAD A RUNNY NOSE IN THE BEGINNING, BUT LATER IT TURNED INTO A TERRIBLE INCIDENT, AS HER BABY LOST A LEG AND FINGER

Jessica Lines had gave birth to her son, Ryan, when it was 3rd of November, 2021. Jessica and Sam were incredibly happy for the birth of their child. He also had a four-year-old brother, Rory.

When it was the 8th of December, Ryan had woke up with a runny nose, and for the beginning of the day, he was acting like it was no different day.

But later on in the same day, Jessica had stated that her son started to act different as, “starting to not be himself, he was very clingy and wimping, quiet [and] dazed.”

The parents of Ryan rushed him to the hospital, as it was clear that something was wrong with their child.

But the doctors stated that he is acting different, because he is teething, so they sent them back to their home.

But he was same on the next day too, and they went back to the hospital again for more tests.

On that day, the family found out that their son was struggling with, Streptococcus infection, as known as, Strep A. He first had a runny nose, but then went into a septic shock that his life was in danger.

Ryan was transferred to the Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and in there he had started to receive his treatment. But there were some complications, since he had blood clots that were blocking his veins, and due to that, some of his limbs didn’t received enough oxygen. Due to that, he had lost his leg and a finger.

“Thankfully that’s not the case,” parents said, that he could had a brain damage too.

“It’s crazy to me to think that he just had a simple runny nose and sore throat and it advanced into something so serious,”

“For a whole month every day I remember being told, ‘I’m really sorry he didn’t make it, he went into cardiac arrest and they are doing CPR’” Jessica had stated from her Facebook page, and continued, “A whole month of running out and seeing CPR done on my baby screaming and begging for them not to stop, this lasted 10 minutes and then I heard the words ‘we got him back.’”

“In the last five years between 1,500 and 2,300 people die annually due to invasive group A strep disease” is stated by CDC, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Here is the common symptoms of the disease,

• Feels abnormally cold to touch
• Looks mottled, bluish, or has very pale skin
• Is breathing very fast
• Has a convulsion
• Has a rash that does not fade when pressed
• Is very lethargic or difficult to wake

And for children that are under the age of five,

• Not drinking or feeding
• Repeated vomiting
• 12 hours without urinating

“So proud, one day at a time,” Jessica had captioned the video, where Ryan was walking with his support.

“We still have a very long journey ahead but we’re so thankful our little boy is still here with us,” she added.

“Always trust your gut – if you feel something isn’t right don’t take no for an answer.”

“Everyone is so surprised that he survived, and the outcome has been more positive than what we thought it would be.”

“Our little boy is such a miracle, but the reality is that Ryan was very very sick.”
