GEORGE MICHAEL AND HIS SISTER PASSED AWAY THREE YEARS APART, ON CHRISTMAS DAY, THE CAUSES OF THEIR DEATH ARE STILL A MYSTERY
The iconic singer, George Michael and his sister, Melanie Panayiotou lost their lives on the same day, with three years between them. They were close to each other, and his sister was the first person he shared his secret with.
For his sister, Panayiotou, Michael was a hero. After he came out as a gay man, his sister was there to support him, as she held her promise to keep his secret.
As he never made peace with his sexuality, Michael had a addiction problem, where his sister was begging him to get help to fight against his addiction, as she was the number one supporter of Michael.
On the 25th of December, Christmas of 2016, Michael closed his eyes. His boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz had stated that Michael passed away alone, at the age of 53. Fawas explained that he found Michael unresponsive, when he went to check him at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.
“We were supposed to be going for Christmas lunch. I went round there to wake him up and he was just gone, lying peacefully in bed,” Fawaz said.
Fawaz added that their relationship was complicated, and they were working on to fix the problems. He then described Michael as a beautiful person.
And from his Twitter account, Fawaz stated, “ITs a Xmas I will never forget. […] I will never stop missing you xx.”
After George Michael’s passing, the Thames Valley Police stated that they are investigating his passing, after an autopsy, and they stated that his death was unexplained, and not suspicious.

After three months later, in the March of 2017, The Senior Coroner for Oxfordshire had explained that Michael was died from natural causes, as they stated, “As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being Dilated Cardiomyopathy with Myocarditis and Fatty Liver, the investigation is being discontinued.”
After Panayiotou lost her brother, she was devastated, and depressed so hard. She moved back to her house in Hampstead, where she had lived with her brother. There, she suffered from obesity, and that caused diabetes and heart disease.
On the Christmas evening of 2019, three years after her brother’s passing, Panayiotou was found unresponsive at her Hampstead northwest London home.
Her younger sister, Yioda Panayiotou found her body. She was at the age of 55, when she lost her life.
Their lawyer, John Reid announced her passing as he said, “We can confirm that very tragically Melanie has passed away suddenly.”
Metropolitan Police had stated that her death was not suspicious, as they said, “The death is not being treated as suspicious by police.”
As her death was mysterious, some of her relatives stated that she was passed away from a broken heart, but it was a diabetic coma, what caused her death.
In the March of 2020, her death was certified by Jonathan Stevens, the Assistant Coroner for Inner London North.
Stevens revealed that Panayiotou passed away from diabetic ketoacidosis, high blood sugar, and the lack of insulin.
A source talked about Panayiotou as, “She stayed indoors, had shopping delivered, and rarely left the house.”
