FATHER CHANGED HIS MIND, AND DECIDED NOT TO PAY FOR HIS DAUGHTER’S WEDDING, WHEN SHE CHOSE ANOTHER MAN TO WALK HER DOWN THE AISLE
A father had shared a family story on Reddit’s r/AITA subreddit. The username of the father is, u/CultureFantastic4947, and he stated that he refused to pay for the wedding of his daughter, when she chose another man to walk her down the aisle.
OP shared that he had three children with his ex-wife, 28-year-old Michael, 25-year-old Linda, and 23-year-old Victoria. And he explained that his wife had cheated on him with Stan, which they are married now. The father said that they never shared that information with their children.
And that withdrawal of information caused his children to blame him, as he stayed in the house, and his ex decided to move out to a small apartment, and his marriage two years later from the divorce.
And he stated that his ex, Tracy and her new husband, Stan had spoiled them, and the father then tried to fix the behaviour of the children.
As his two older children grew, they figured it out that their father was not the bad guy. Father explained how they found out as, “My son when he found out that his mother had put nothing away for college for him as outlined in our divorce decree and she told him to take out loans. My daughter when she realized that her grades were going to keep her out of her desired program in school.”
As his youngest child never realized that the mother was not that good actually, the father was surprised when she brought her boyfriend to him for asking his blessing over their reunion.
Then his youngest daughter came to spend time with him and his wife more often. As she started to be closer to her father, after he had paid a little for her wedding, she started to hold herself back, against to her father.
Then he saw on the social media that he wasn’t invited to the engagement party of his youngest daughter. And what was worse, he saw a picture of Stan, which his daughter shared, and captioned as, “Anyone can be a father. It takes a real man to be a Dad. This amazing guy has been my dad for 15 years even though he didn’t have to be. I am so blessed to have him walk me down the aisle next year! #daddysgirl #futuremrsx”
He explained that even when his children were against him, he tried to help them financially. He decided to talk with his daughter, Victoria, about the problem, and asked that why he wasn’t invited.
Then his daughter stated that her mother didn’t wanted OP’s wife to create a drama, but OP stated that, “My wife has literally never started drama in her life.” Then the father had asked that if she will let him walk her down the aisle.
As Victoria didn’t responded to him, his ex had called him and asked that why he is trying to create a problem with his questions. Then he asked again about the aisle, and his wife said no.
Then the father stated, “I told her that if that’s what she wanted I would be fine with it. I told her to let Stan know the next payment for the wedding is due in November.”
