As he was having health problems in his recent years, he had faced terrible family situations in the past, that he had devoted himself to his family.
Freeman has four children from his two marriages. He was first married to Jeanette Bradshaw, from 1967 to 1979.
And later on, he had married with Myrna Colley-Lee in 1984, and divorced in 2010. From these two marriages, he had welcomed his children, Deena Freeman, Morgana Freeman, Alfonso Freeman, and Saifoulaye Freeman.
Back in 2008, he had a car crash with one of his friend. As they were going to his ranch in Mississippi, they lost control of their vehicle, and the car flipped several times. As it was reported, there were no substances on him, and they had stated that the, then 71-year-old legendary actor, was fell asleep, while driving.
He had some nerve damage on his left hand, that from the accident. He underwent surgery, but his left hand was never the same.
“It’s the fibromyalgia. Up and down the arm. That’s where it gets so bad. Excruciating.” He explained.
As he had stated, he was not able to do the thing he used to have fun, as, piloting jets, sailing, riding horses, and even driving.
“It’s better to have two hands working than do that with one hand. I’ve had to give up on some fun things,” Freeman had said.
“I play one-handed. I swing with my right arm,” he said about playing golf.
He is still in the industry, as he said, “I’m very concerned about longevity”. He had stated that he is afraid of dying from the stress. He also added that he is avoiding physical roles. “I won’t take jobs where I have to be physical,”
As he was nominated for Oscar, with the movies Driving Missy and Shawshank Redemption, he had won the cademy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2005, and 2004, with the movie Million Dollar Baby.
In 2023, after he fell sick, he had missed his flight for UK, to promote his movie, Special Ops: Lioness.
His spokeperson had stated, “Morgan has a fever and his doctor felt he had a contagious infection, so he canceled his trip. He is fine now.”
As he put his career first, when he was asked that if he has any regrets, he said, “I’m not sure”, as he continued that he might have done some things differently.
He stated that a good golf course can make him happy, especially if he is winning a game against his son.
He had added that he is unaware if being a father had changed him or not.
“You have to be married to be a father. I sired a couple of kids without being married, but that doesn’t make you a father,” Freeman said.
“I was busy trying to be an actor, and the two didn’t really go together in my youth. But now I am in my dotage, I am a great grandfather. I have 14 grandchildren.”
Back in 2015, his granddaughter, E’Dena Hines was murdered terribly, as she was stabbed to death, outside of her home in New York.
A 30-year-old man, named Lamar Davenport was found guilty with her murder.
