EDDIE VAN HALEN WAS ALONE IN THE LAST YEARS OF HIS LIFE, AND HIS CONFESSION TO HIS EX WIFE, VALERIE BERTINELLI
It was 1955, when Eddie Van Halen was born. He was one of the greatest guitar players in the rock history. He met with Valerie Bertinelli when he was at the height of stars, in his career.
Bertinelli was 20, when she became a huge name with One Day At A Time. She fell in love with Van Halen, when her brothers took her to his concert at Shreveport, Louisiana.
As she fell in love with him, three days after the concert, she received a call from Van Halen, as he asked for a date. Bertinelli said, “So I went out and visited, and we never separated from then on.”
As he was looking like a bad boy at the stage, Bertinelli stated that Van Halen was a gentleman. In eight months, they had a date for their wedding. On 1981, the couple tied the knot at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Westwood, California.
As Van Halen was struggling with his drinking and smoking problem, he had promised that he wouldn’t do nothing in his wedding day, but he broke that promise. As the guests had gathered at the Grayhall mansion, the couple were missing. They were in the restroom, as Bertinelli was holding Van Halen’s hair, as he was vomiting.
After that, they made their enterance to their reception, as people cheered, not knowing what happened.
As they were looking like the perfect marriage from outside, there was a different story inside. Bertinelli stated, “He had his responsibilities of what he had to do, and I had my responsibilities. And we thought if you just live in the same house, there would be a connection, but no.”
They welcomed their son, Wolfgang, in 1991, and got divorced in 2007, when their son was 16.
Bertinelli said, “After Ed and I separated, I thought, I’ll finish raising my son. I’ll go away, have about 40 cats, and just get nice and fat.”
She revealed that she couldn’t keep up with her husband’s rocker life. And she stated that she heard Van Halen talking to another woman, and caught him cheating on her. She heard him saying that he couldn’t wait to get out of their marriage.
Then, few years later, a man called her and stated that his wife is cheating him with Van Halen, and the things are revealed.
After few years later, Bertinelli stated that she had cheated on her husband with a drummer from a different band, and kissed with another woman.
She expressed, “What I should have done is dealt with the problems in our marriage, separated, and then if I want to go do something, I can. But it was a big, huge wrong choice.”
As they were separated in 2001, they finalized their divorce in 2007.
Bertinelli stated, “One of the many reasons that Ed and I split up is to give Wolfie a better vision of what two people who are supposedly in love treat each other like.”
“Ed and I weren’t treating each other like two people that loved each other, and that’s what Wolfie was seeing.”
As she was having anxiety, she started stress eating, and started to gain weight after their separation.
As they were separated, they lived together for a while, until Bertinelli was ready to move on. Van Halen get a house which was close to Wolfgang’s school, and his house.
Bertinelli met with Tom Vitale in 2010, in Italy. They married in 2011, in Malibu. They had a crowded wedding, where her ex, Van Halen had attended too.
After a decade later, they divorced, as Los Angeles County Superior Court stated, “irreconcilable differences.”
Van Halen was dating with Janie Liszewski, as he was not alone too. Van Halen proposed to Janie in 2008, at their Hawaii vacation. They married a year later in Van Halen’s land at Studio City, California.
It was 2001, when Van Halen was diagnosed with cancer. A part of his tongue was removed during his treatment. But in 2019, he had another complication at his throat.
Bertinelli stated that Van Halen was alone, during his last two years, since Janie moved out from his house. And she stated that they had reunited for one Thanksgiving, with Van Halen. They had talked outside, as the house was crowded.
He then, gave her a gold pendant, as he stated, “I hope you don’t think it’s weird. You know that I bought my ex-wife this gift and I didn’t get my wife anything. I just love you.”
As he was married, they were living close to each other, as they weren’t living together.
On the September of 2020, Van Halen couldn’t leave the hospital due to his cancer status. Everyday, his son, Wolfgang, and his ex-wife, Bertinelli had visited and supported him. On his last days, his wife and brother, Liszewski and Alex was with him too.
It was 6th of October, 2020, when Van Halen passed away. Bertinelli stated that even thought they couldn’t keep their marriage, afterwards, they had a great relationship, which they were close.
Liszewski had stated from the social media as, “My husband, my love, my Peep. My heart and soul have been shattered into a million pieces. I never knew it was possible to cry so many tears or feel such incredible sadness.”
