Tracy Nelson was born in 1963, to her family of entertaintment business, in Santa Monica, California. She is the fourth children of Ricky Nelson, and wife, Kristin Harmon.
As her family was in the industry of entertainment, she had stepped in to that industry too.
She had lost her father, at the age of 45. Her father had lost his life on a plane crush, where only the pilots of the craft had survived.
Then her uncle, Mark Harmon and his wife Pam Dawber had took their custody, along with her 13-year-old brother, Sam.
Her sister Kristin, was dealing with drug abuse. As her uncle, Harmon had took her and her brother’s custody, as the battle for the custody continued, he stepped out from her niece, Kristin’s custody.
Her brother Sam, had stated in 2016 that, “As you get older, things that were important aren’t important anymore. Problems aren’t problems anymore. You work through them, or you don’t.”
As she had continued at her career as an actress, she had appeared on “A League of Their Own” and “Melrose Place.”.
As she needed to take a break from acting, later she had revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer.
She had met with her partner, William R. Moses in 1987. She was feeling tired and weak all the time, until she saw her father in her dream, “My father called me on the phone and said, I know you miss me, but it’s not time for you to die. You have to go see a doctor,”
Her doctor found a tumor in her chest, then she was diagnosed with, stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Then she went under a procedure at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Los Angeles, to remove her spleen, a portion of her liver, and samples of her lymph nodes.
“I was like a human biology project,” she had said.
“Chemotherapy takes five hours to administer through a catheter. It’s the longest five hours of your life. It feels like you’re being poisoned.”
“That day I made a decision to stay alive. That’s when I really started to fight.”
She had many hours of chemo and radiotherapy, as she wanted to became a parent one day. As her doctors had stated that they only want her to stay alive, and think about pregnancy later, with her partner, they wanted to stay hopeful.
“I was stunned. It was a relief on the one hand, but terrifying on the other, I wondered whether my baby would be all right,” she said after two years, when she found out that she was pregnant.
She had gave birth to her daughter, Remington Elizabeth in 1992.
As she went back to her home, she had experienced a hemorrhage from her uterus. She was scared that she would lost her life, without spending time with her daughter. Luckily the doctors had operated and stopped her bleeding on time, and she stayed four more days in hospital.
When it was 2005, she was diagnosed with cancer again, thyroid cancer. And after five years, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
