OP’S FATHER RECEIVED A FREE BAR OF SOAP

A deleted user had stated that when his father moved into his new home, he would accept a man who would comes and freely demonstrates a water filter, and lefts a bar of soap he uses in his demonstration. OP’s father had received more than four different brands, and received many bars of soap with this trick.

FATHER WITH PAPER TOWEL ISSUES

FATHER WHO WANTS TO SAVE EVERY COIN

Redditor, u/halfadash6 shared that his father would take advantage of the Costco’s return policy. He returned a furniture set after using it for eight years. He received the money, and used it on a new patio set from Costco, which he will return it someday.

GRANDMOTHER WHO LOVED TO COLLECT NAPKINS

Redditor, u/Acetylene had explained that her grandmother was a woman who would collect the napkins from the restaurants she goes. OP stated that whenever she stayed in her house, when a guest was coming over for dinner, grandmother would say, use “the good napkins,” which are the ones without logos printed on them.

GIANT ROLLS

OP, u/Askin_Real_Questions shared that his father would get the giant industrial rolls which can be seen in shopping centers, which has four times more toilet paper in them. OP stated, “I’ve never been so embarrassed having friends over.”

LIFETIME GUARANTEE

Redditor, u/stone_opera shared that her grandmother got everythink from Sears, which they had lifetime guarantee on almost everything, in the late 40s. And the grandmother of the OP was occasionally would go there and change the things she bought from there. She would say, “Lifetime guarantee means lifetime guarantee.”

BUDGET HOME RENOVATION

When he was seven, his father bought a house from 1947, for $89,000. The house was in terrible condition, and there were houses for $110,000 which had modern desings and furnitures in them. Over the years as they renovated the house, OP’s father had paid more than $30,000. But he was thinking that he saved $21,000.

And she gave another example after she explained that there is a natural spring in their city, and the water is free. “So let me set this scene – There is a line in front of it. Kids wanting cold water on a hot day, moms with a pitcher to get some, maybe a guy with an empty milk jug, and my dad with THIRTY-TWO 5-gallon bottles filling them all up “in case the spring dries up tomorrow.””

As he first thought of giving it away, then OP decided to use it. When he handed the gift card oer to the cashier, the woman went pale and asked, “This can’t be, where did you get this??”

Cashier: ‘STOP EVERYONE! IN FRONT OF US we have the winner of our store’s decade-long hidden sweepstakes!’ The cashier excitedly explained that the gift card was a special promotional item with a million-dollar prize, unclaimed for years.”

HAVING NOODLES WITH A FLAVOR PACKET COLLECTION

Redditor, u/forgno had shared that their father eats ramen noodles, but keeps the flavor packets that comes with them. OP stated that they have more than 100 flavor packets.

BRICKS OF THE FATHER

The Redditor u/sp3ctr41 stated that after they demolished their garage, their father wanted them to collect every brick, if they would need them later. After eight years later, the bricks are still sitting there in the garden.

OP also shared, “Our cars are worth $2000. My dad buys identical cars and dismantles them for parts. When you think he’s done scrapping, he lifts the engines out of them and stacks them underneath the carport. They have 300,000 kilometers on them.”

REUSING BATHWATER TO SAVE FROM WATER AND GAS BILLS

A deleted user had stated that they are sharing the bathwater. In an order, first his brother, then himself, then his mother and at last, his father would take shower in that bathwater. OP shared that it is disgusting, but his parents were broke, and they needed to save money.

CHRISTMAS WRAPPING PAPER

Redditor u/Jade_GL shared that she was thinking that the Christmas wrapping papers were made to be funny looking, as she stated, “All of the Santa faces were a half centimeter or more off their faces. I later realized that my mom always bought misprinted discounted wrapping paper.”

“The thing is, when I see really nice paper now, it doesn’t feel like Christmas to me. The cheap, misprinted paper is more Christmasy to me, even 30 years later.”

OP’S FATHER BOUGHT A TOY CRIB FOR HIS GRANDDAUGHTER
