BEFORE KELLY CLARKSON DIVORCED BRANDON BLACKSTOCK, REBA MCENTIRE WARNED CLARKSON ABOUT HER STEPSON
Back in 2015, Narvel Blackstock and Reba McEntire shocked everyone with their divorce. The couple ended their marriage of 26 years with their announcement. McEntire revealed that she was not the one who wanted divorce, and their divorce turned to be messy.
As Navel had three child before McEntire, together they had their son, Shelby Blackstock. One of Navel’s children, Brandon Blackstock, was Kelly Clarkson’s former husband. Even though Navel’s three children weren’t biologically McEntire’s, she had accepted them as if they were her own.
McEntire became a stepmother to Navel’s children after their marriage in 1976, to the children Charlie Battles, two then-teenage sons, Lance and Coty Battles.
Later, in 1989, McEntire married with Narvel, and became the stepmother of Shawna, Brandon, and Chassidy Blackstock, Narvel’s children from his ex-wife, Elisa Gayle.
McEntire also has a great relationship with Brandon’s ex-wife, Kelly Clarkson. Together, they had talked about their relationship on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” back in 2007.
They had stated that their 27 years of age gap doesn’t prevent them being friends, and going to hikes together.
In 2023, in one of her interviews, Clarkson had said, “I mean, we were friends before Brandon and I got together.”
A source stated in December of 2020 that Reba was “torn” when she learned about Brandon and Kelly’s separation as she loved both of the individuals. The source stated that Reba loved Brandon and Kelly as if they were her own, and she refused to take sides on their separation due to her love against the former couple.
And as another source said, McEntire supported their decision to part their ways, but also said that Kelly wouldn’t talk much with McEntire about her relationship with Brandon.
But few years before the divorce, McEntire had warned Clarkson about her characteristics, which she is center of attention, works hard, and over-the-top personality.
After they made their decision, they talked with Reba about their choice to be separated, as they didn’t asked what McEntire was thinking.
In 2021, McEntire talked about her then-current relationship with Kelly and Brandon, as she stated that she didn’t talked with Kelly, but she was texting with each other, and that she loves her stepson and her former daughter-in-law.
