BARRY GIBB OF BEE GEES, HAD TALKED ABOUT HIS WIFE OF FIVE DECADES
It was 1994, when Barry Gibb had entered to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, along with his brothers. When it was 1997, they had became the members of he Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And in 2002, he was assigned as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire, and in 2018, became a knight.
As he was successful in his life, he also had struggled a lot. He lost all of his brothers, which he founded the Bee Gees. And he struggled a lot with his love life too. But that lasted until he met with his wife of five decades, Linda Gray, in 1970.
His brother, Andy had passed away at the age of 30, in 1988, and then his other brother, Maurice in 2003, and in 2012, Robin passed away.
“My brothers had to deal with their demons, but I was married to a lady who wasn’t going to have it.” Gibb had stated.
“I could bring drugs into the house, but they would end up down the toilet. She never allowed me to go in that direction. I had to deal with my brothers being pretty much out there, but I was lucky.”
“I’ve had to deal with loss, not just my brothers but my mother and father. But what I’ve learned from all of it is that things just roll on, and you roll on with them.”
Gibb was married to Maureen Bates, before he found his peace with Gray. Their marriage lasted for four years.
He met with Gray, on the TV show, Top of the Pops.
“She was the hostess for one week, the week ‘Massachusetts’ was No. 1. And she’d never heard of it. We just saw each other across the room and something happened.” he had stated.
“I do remember (Australian tennis star) Evonne Goolagong tried to get me to go out with her about 25 years ago,”
“She asked me if she should come over!”
“One time we were at the Record Plant in Los Angeles and Steve McQueen tried to take off with Linda on the back of his motorbike! She’s a very beautiful woman, and had just as many opportunities as me!” Gibb had said.
