Anderson Cooper was at the age of 53, when he became a father for the first time. Since 2009, Cooper was having a relationship with Benjamin Maisani. As they were private with their lives, they revealed their relationship years later.
In 2018, it was reported that Cooper and Maisani are living together in Cooper’s Greenwich Village home, which he bought for $4 million.
The couple revealed their relationship in 2015, as Cooper shared a picture from his social media account, and captioned, “I guess when you’re with someone a long time, you start to pose alike.”
Later, Benjamin Masiani stated that they wanted to keep things private, because he didn’t wanted to be in a celebrity relationship, as people already started to show interest in their relationship.
In 2018, the couple separated, as Cooper stated, “Benjamin and I separated as boyfriends some time ago. We are still family to each other, and love each other very much.”
In his interview with Ellen, Cooper stated that they are still friends with his ex, Benjamin, and talked about their separation reason.
Cooper stated that Benjamin didn’t wanted children, but Cooper wanted to be a father, before it’s too late, and he did became a father at the age of 53.
When it was 2020, he revealed on CNN, where he was finalizing his segment, he revealed the name of his son, Wyatt Morgan, and stated, “As a gay kid, I never thought it would be possible to have a child.”
Then, Cooper continued with saying that he is grateful for the medical team who helped them a lot.
He revealed that he chose the name of his son, as his first name from his father, and the second name from his mother.
After his son was born, Cooper stated that his son, Wyatt was born weighting 7.2 lbs and, “sweet, and soft, and healthy.”
Then he thanked to the surrogate mother, who carried his son for months, and brought him the joy of his life.
He finished his sentences, as he revealed that how he wanted to be a father, and how he would be grateful that if his father, mother and brother Carter, to be alive and see his son.
In 2020, in his appearance in The Howard Stern Show, he stated that he doesn’t want to raise his son alone, as he stated that, after losing his father, he shared that his mother had struggled a lot as she was a single mother.
“So I thought, ‘Well if something happens to me — or even if something doesn’t happen to me — if more people love my son and are in his life, I’m all for that.” Cooper stated.
Hs stated that two parents are needed in a child’s life, and shared that he is living together with his ex, Benjamin, because they are in good terms, and are getting along.
At first, their situation was “weird,” as Cooper stated, since Benjamin didn’t wanted to have children, but now, it seems that he changed his mind, as Cooper stated, Benjamin is a great co-parent.
In his interview with WSJ magazine, in 2020, Cooper stated that becoming a father had changed him, as he stated, his life began again at the age of 53.
“It’s changed everything.” Cooper said.
As he thought, having a brother or sister to his son, Wyatt, would be amazing, in 2022, Masiani and Cooper welcomed their son, as he announced in “Anderson Cooper 360°”, Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper arrived through surrogate.
