ALAN RANDA HAD A PUBLIC APPEARANCE, AFTER HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH PARKINSON’S, YEARS BEFORE
Star had made his public appearance in the Broadway, this week, for the “Purlie Victorious” revival.
Created by, Ossie Davis, and starred in also, had met with the audience back in 1961. Randa was in the play with his role as, Charlie Cotchipee.
Star actor is now in the producing part of the show, along with, Samuel L. Jackson, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Kerry Washington, Phylicia Rashad, Nicolette Robinson, Leslie Odom Jr.
Noah Robbins, whom he is playing Randa’s role in the play, had said, “He’s an absolute treasure,”
Also he added, “and meeting and conversing with him was a highlight of my life.”
A source had made comments. “The cast was thrilled,” he said.
“His wife was taking cell phone video on her phone, too, which was cute,”
Back in 2015, Randa was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and since he was living away from the public eye.
He had met with her wife, Alene Weiss, in 1956, when both of them were students.
They met in their mutual friend’s party when the first time they have seen each other.
On his update about his health, which he talked in 2022, he had stated that he is “feeling good”, and is in the getting used to his condition.
“Tying shoelaces can be a challenge with stiff fingers,” he said.
“Think of playing the violin while wearing mittens. The silver lining is that I keep getting more confident that I can always find a workaround.”
