AFTER THEIR DAUGHTER CHOSE NOT TO ATTEND TO COLLEGE, HER FAMILY CHARGED HER WITH RENT, TO TEACH HER FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Parents from Gatesville, Texas, Erika and Cody Archie, had created an argument on the internet, when they had revealed that they charged their daughter with rent, as she is staying at their home. The parents had stated that they are doing that so their daughter would learn the financial responsibility in her life.
The parents are sharing their lives on TikTok, their content is about ranch life. Recently they had stated that they are taking rent money from their highschool graduate daughter, when she refused to go to a college.
Their daughter, Kylee Deason, had graduated from highschool in May of 2022, and her father had wanted her to pay rent from the start of June of 2022, when she had said that she doesn’t want to go to a college.
Cody Archie, her father, had stated that, “Our thought together is that since [Kylee] has graduated, I told her… I been telling her, June the first, our rent’s due if you continue to live here.”
On the other hand, his wife, Erica, was thinking that he might wait a little while longer for demanding a rent. “I thought that was a little harsh, I mean, maybe a little leeway.”
Cody had added, “200 bucks a month is plenty cheap to live like a grub in your parent’s house.”
The couple were thinking that they are going easy on their daughter, as they stated that $200 for a month is not much to live with parents, where your food is ready, and your clothes are clean and folded.
Many people were disagreeing with them about their action towards their daughter. They had commented on the TikTok as,
“You brought her into this world, so you deal with it,”
“I would never charge my child rent. I raised them on my own. How can you take money from your child?”
Another one had stated, “$200 is cheap. I’d charge more.”
“Why would she live free?”
