AFTER SHE RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL FROM A STROKE SHE HAD, FEW DAYS LATER HER HUSBAND WANTED TO DIVORCE
37-year-old Riona Kelly, mother of four, had a stroke when it was 2015. As a teacher it impacted her life, as she stayed away from her students, and also her doctor had stated that she might lose her ability to walk.
”I’d had a car accident 18 months previous and they said that could have caused problems in my spine,” she explained to the Mirror, back in 2017.
As she was in need of support, while struggling with her condition, the person who she needed the most, her husband had stated that he wanted to divorce, few days after her hospitalization.
”After my husband left me in hospital, my friend, Sarah, became my next of kin, it was her and the children that supported me during my recovery. Looking back I was miserable in my marriage, but we had built a life together and had responsibilities,” she added.
Her husband of 14 years had stated that they had talked about their divorce a day prior her stroke.
Her doctors were unsure if she would walk again or not, but Riona was a fighter, as she fought hard to get her ability to walk back.
“The first time I went out in a wheelchair I thought everyone was looking at me, I hated it and hated myself. If someone had given me the choice I would have ended my life, I didn’t want to live anymore,” she said.
As she was receiving help from her personal trainer, Keith Mason, as she was continuing on her physiotherapy, with her personal trainer she had started to a relationship, as they were spending so much time together.
She is now able to walk, but for long distances, she still needs her wheelchair. She made amazing progress with her recovery, where she had started to take her place in the marathons, with the help of Keith and the wheelchair.
“The thought of us walking hand in hand around the city of York for hours was inconceivable just a few months ago, thank God for inventors, innovation and visionary’s who created Riona’s bionic legs, which have AI and the first ever to be made,” Keith had updated from his Twitter account in 2022.
It is unsure if they are still together or not, since Keith had shared no more update on her, but still, they have pictures together in his social media account.
