AFTER HER FIANCE SAID TERRIBLE THINGS ABOUT HER MOTHER, SHE BROKE THEIR ENGAGEMENT

A woman had shared a story on Reddit’s r/AITA subreddit. On eh 16th of May, 2023, a 26-year-old woman had stated that her father had abandoned her mother and her brother, where he left the country with his mistress.

As her mother struggled with taking care of her kids, sadly, she was forced to do some “immoral stuff” to make money, to take care of her children. She was working as a stripper to provide care for her children.

But thanks to her mother’s incredible efforts to raise her children, even she ashamed herself, OP stated that her mother had led them to education, and provided to them, as she sacrificed herself.

OP stated that she never felt ashamed of her mother, since all she did was caring and providing for her children. When she was 14, she started to work part time, as she was trying to get a scholarship for her university education.

As she worked hard, she had achieved her dreams and received a scholarship for university. She also worked as a waitress during her time in university.

She met with her fiance in her university, 27-year-old Javi. As she loved her, she kept the profession of her mother as a secret from her. Her mother wanted her to keep her past as a secret, and OP had kept her promise to her mother.

Javi know the financial struggling his girlfriend was having, but he never judged OP for her financial background. He was even helping OP’s brother’s educational expenses.

The things took an ugly turn when OP’s mother had visited Javi’s house as she was going to meet with his parents. Javi’s uncle and aunt was there too. When OP’s mother saw Javi’s uncle, she went pale, as she was shocked.

As it was a weird night, OP’s mother wanted to leave early. On the next day, Javi came to OP and he started to yell at her. “The next day, my fiancé came to our place and shouted at me that I lied to him,” OP shared. She continued, “He said that I am a gold digger just like my mother, and my mother is the reason why his uncle’s first marriage broke.”

As she couldn’t believe what she heard from Javi, she wanted an explanation for his mean words. Then Javi explained that his uncle had an affair with OP’s mother when he was young, and her aunt had discovered that. OP’s mother had no idea that the man had a wife.

As OP had defended her mother against Javi’s ugly allegations, she stated that his uncle was the wrong one, as who was going to places where a married man shouldn’t.

As OP’s mother was afraid of, Javi threatened OP that he would end their engagements, and he stated that his family aren’t accepting their background.

As OP was saddened with the situation, she decided to end their engagement, and returned her ring to Javi. As OP’s mother was sad, OP stood with her mother, for she was thankful for her since she sacrificed herself to raise her children.

And then, OP shared an update on the 26th of May. She explained that she is thankful with the support she received from the Redditors, and stated that after she ended their engagement, Javi’s family, along with Javi wanted her to reconsider her action, and they apologized from OP.

But again, Javi stated that he wanted to reconnect with her, but he didn’t wanted OP’s mother to attend to any event they do for their reunion, and wedding.

OP refused Javi’s offer, as she stood with her mother, as she was aware of her mother’s sacrifice.
