AFTER 65 YEARS, “ROCKIN’ AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE” OF BRENDA LEE, HIT THE NUMBER ONE

As when someone says Christmas, the song of Mariag Carey, All I Want for Christmas is You comes to mind. But with the Christmas of this year, the favorite Christmas song had changed as, Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”.
78-year-old Brenda Lee, the Little Miss Dynamite, had broke many records with her song, when it hit the rank 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart Monday.
She was 13, when the song was recorded in 1958. And as she is now celebrating the 65th year of her hit, she released a music video for the song, last month, with Tanya Tucker and Trisha Yearwood starring in it.
As the song became the number one, it broke the record for longest wait in between a song’s resease and becoming the number one.
And Lee became the oldest person with a song that hit the top of the list, Billboard chart.
In her statement, Lee said, “I cannot believe that ‘Rockin’’ has hit No. 1 65 years after it was released, this is just so special!”

“Thank you to the team at UMG/UMe who worked so hard to celebrate the song’s anniversary this year. But most importantly, thank you to the fans who keep listening.”
“The song came out when I was a young teenager and now to know that it has resonated with multiple generations and continues to resonate — it is one of the best gifts I have ever received. Keep on Rockin’ and Merry Christmas!”
