WIFE FOUND OUT THAT HER HUSBAND WAS AT THE SAME HOTEL SHE WAS IN FOR HER BUSINESS TRIP
Clara would occasionally go to her business trips, which she would go alone as she was enjoying being a stranger in a different place. Her husband Tom wasn’t minding too, as he would watch TV and eat junk food alone.
“I’m not going to do anything else,” he laughed while helping Clara with her luggage.
While Clara and her business partner Malcolm were eating on a restaurant, “Don’t you worry about a thing, Clara,” he said. “You just go and present everything we’ve been working toward for the past six months. And be yourself!”
“You should come with me,” Clara said.
“I have faith in you. Besides, I can’t risk leaving town. I’m going to be a father any moment now.” Malcolm said.
“You’ll be fine,” Tom said to his wife when they arrived at the airport. “You’ve done these things without Malcolm before.”
“Yes, but this time there’s more pressure,” Clara said. “We’re asking for a ridiculous amount from the investors.”
“And they wouldn’t even be entertaining you if they didn’t think that you guys were worth something. Relax, sweetheart. Be yourself and they will love you.”
As Tom was right, Clara wanted something promising in her presentation.
“Besides, it’s just a few days and we’ll both be right back home,” Tom said.
“Are you nervous about your trip?” Clara asked to her husband.
“Not at all,” Tom said. “I’m excited, really. I’ve been feeling restless for a while now. And this way, I get to escape for a while. We really need to plan a vacation.”
“When we get back,” Clara responded, “We can plan the entire thing.”
Then Tom kissed his wife, and left the airport.
“This isn’t just any business trip, Clara,” she told herself when she boarded the plane. “You’ve got to prove yourself.”
She arrived late, as her flight was delayed, so she decided to check in to her hotel after the meeting.
“Thank you for your time, Clara,”one of the investors, Grant, said. “You and Malcolm did a great job on the proposal, and your presentation was great. We see the vision. We’d be honored to bring it to life. But we’ll get back to you officially in a day or two. My assistant will schedule a meeting.”
“Enjoy your stay,” Grant continued, while Clara went to her hotel.
She was planning for a shower, then call her husband and Malcolm to inform them. While she was waiting for hotel’s reception, she saw a woman who was sitting next to her in the plane.
“Hey!” she said. “You’re staying here too?”
“How long will you be here for?” Clara asked.
Just a few days. I’m actually here for a little adventure,” she said. “It’s a getaway from home. With my boyfriend. But it’s a bit more complicated than that.”
“What do you mean?”
“He has a wife,” she said. “So, it’s all just secrets. But I’m not going to let that get to me! If anything, she travels a lot. And he thinks that she’s having an affair with someone at work.”
“That sounds crazy!” Clara laughed.
“Hi!” The woman said when it was her turn at the reception. “I’m Veronica. My booking should be under Tom Harrison. He won’t be checked in yet, because he’s only flying here tonight.”
“Tom Harrison? My husband — Tom Harrison?” Clara thought, as she was shocked. She was frozen.
“Sure, ma’am,” the receptionist said. “Since the booking was done by Mr. Harrison, I’m going to need you to give me a cellphone number or email address — just something for me to confirm it. It’s for security reasons.”
Then Veronica gave Clara’s husband’s number. Clara’s heart skipped a beat.
“Enjoy your stay,” Veronica turned to Clara, “I’m sure our paths will cross.”
Half an hour later, Clara went to the reception, and told that she was there to meet with her husband, when she saw another person at the reception. As she took a keycard, she checked the room and saw that it was empty, then waited for Tom to arrive.
Later, Tom entered to the room, “Honey, I’m here,” he called.
“Surprise!” Clara said. “I didn’t know you were coming to surprise me at my hotel.”
Tom’s face turned pale. “Clara!” he exclaime.
“Not who you were expecting?”
“How long?” She asked. “How long have you been seeing her?”
“Seven months,” Tom said directly.
“I deserve a partner who values and respects me, Tom,” Clara responded. “You’re not that man.”
As Tom was silent, “Is that it?” Clara asked. “Silence?”
“Clara, I don’t know what to tell you,” Tom responded. “You travel all the time. I’m lonely. And you’re always with Malcolm. What am I supposed to think?”
“You’re supposed to trust me. I think we’re done, Tom.” She said and went back to her room.
She called Malcolm and told him everything happened at the presentation.
“Now we wait,” Malcolm responded.
“Now we wait,” Clara sighed, hoping that everything would get better.
