WOMAN’S IN-LAWS AND HER HUSBAND EXPECTED HER TO PAY FOR THEIR NEW YEAR’S EVE DINNER

A woman had shared on Reddit that for the New Year’s Eve dinner she had attended with her in-laws, they wanted her to pay for the dinner where they ate in a fancy restaurant. As woman was frustrated, she left the restaurant.

32-year-old woman had shared that she inherited a good amount of money from her mother, and she was keeping the money in a separate account.

Woman explained that she didn’t decided what to do with the money she received, and she doesn’t want to waste the money she received, which she wants to use the money with the needs she would have.

Lately, OP felt that her husband was bringing up the money subject often, and the inheritence she received. He was giving suggestions to OP about how she should spend it. And since the woman received the money, her husband was making her to pay for everything.

“For NYE, My husband and I met up with his family at a restaurant to celebrate. It was going fine until I found out that I was expected to pay for everyone at the table.” OP had shared.

At the dinner, after they said that they are expecting her to pay for the dinner, OP’s mother-in-law had stated that she should pay from the “inheritance pocket,” which made OP livid, but she tried to keep herself calm. After she paid for her own food, she silently left the restaurant. As OP was leaving, her in-laws and her husband were shouting behind her as if they were a crowd at a concert.

“He got back at 3 a.m yeling at me saying I was pathetic to get up and walk out on him and his family after they relied on me to pay for their food and thougt I was gracious enough to do it BUT they were wrong.” OP wrote in her post. Later she added that her husband felt that OP had humiliated him, and his family.
