Chaz Bono was born from his parents, Cher and Sonny Bono. During their marriages, Sonny was overcontrolling Cher, which was a hard marriage for Cher. She had several miscarriages before Cher gave birth to Chaz.
After Chaz’s birth, Cher said, “Chaz brought a new element into our marriage.”
Few years later, Chaz had her second child, a son. But Cher was struggling with being a mother, as she admitted that she was not the best mother.
As she rose in her career, she was spending time away from her children, and as they grew older, she tried to make amends for her time of absence.
Chaz was born as a female, under the name Chastity Bono, and he changed his gender in time. Cher had problems with supporting her child, when Chaz first talked about his struggle with his gender. “I didn’t handle it all that well in the beginning.” Cher said.
“Now I’m totally fine. But it’s hard to lose one child to get a new one, especially so late.” She said.
Chaz also admitted that his mother had struggled, as he said, “It has been difficult for my mother, but I respect that.” But today, Chaz and his mother, Cher is happy with their lives, as they have accepted everything, and they are happy.
“She sticks up for me — and what an ally to have!” Chaz said for his mother.
His aunt, Georganne was shocked when Chaz had revealed that he will underwent surgery to change his gender.
Cher’s sister had struggled with accepting that her niece, was going to be her nephew, as she had struggled with understanding Chaz’s situation.
She accepted the situation as she watched the documentary, “Becoming Chaz.” She understand that Chaz was still the same person who she knew from the childhood.
“It was my Chaz, and the soul of the person came through, and that was that.” The aunt said to Oprah Winfrey.
Chaz had struggled in his love life, as his relationship to Jennifer Elia finished in 2011, as he left that relationship with a trauma, as he was afraid of being alone.
“I seem to repel women I am attracted to.” He once said, but his life changed when he met with Shara Blue Mathes in 2017.
Few months after they got met, their relationship started.
Chaz was feeling as he was complete in life, and he complete his transition fully. Cher had welcomed Shara to the family.
On the 91st birthday of Cher’s mother, Georgia Holt, Mathes was invited, and welcomed to the family by Holt, in 2017. As Daily Mail reported, the couple is visiting their families whenever they are in United States.
In 2019, Shara had shared a picture with Cher, wher eshe stated, “Happy Birthday to the woman who signs my birthday cards ‘Love your Mother-in-Law (basically), Me!’ She truly is the bee’s knees, the whole bag of chips and all of that. [sic]”
