THE FINAL DAYS OF SEAN CONNERY, AS THEY DESCRIBED, IT WAS HARD TO WITNESS

The legendary bond agent, Sean Connery, had struggled with diseases in his final year. His wife was there for Connery, and she talked about Connery’s passing.

After his passing, his wife, Micheline Roquebrune, and his only child, son Jason Connery survived. Herbie J. Pilato talked about his passing, in his book, “Connery, Sean Connery.”

His another friend, Brendan Lynch was talked about in the book too, where there was an interview of him in there.

“[…] If anybody looked like a movie star, it was Sean Connery. But towards the end, when he was frail, it was hard to watch. It was hard to see that.” Pilato said.

Roquebrune had wanted Lynch to came as much as possible, before Connery’s passing, because Connery didn’t wanted to be around with people who he didn’t knew much. Lynch stated that he cried after he saw Connery, in his terrible state.

“To see his body weak and flawed at the end… it was very sad.”

As Lynch tried to talk with him, he understand that he was not well enough to understand everythign they talked.

Roquebrune had stayed with her husband, until the end of his time, from the time they married in the mid 1970s.

The couple were together for decades, and she was committed to her husband. The couple were in Bahamas, when Connery was close to his final breath.

“It was no life for him. He was not able to express himself latterly. At least he died in his sleep and it was just so peaceful. I was with him all the time and he just slipped away. It was what he wanted.” His wife said.

She stated that her husband’s mind was shattered by dementia, as she revealed that Connery’s wish was to die without any “fuss.” Roquebrune stated that they had a wonderful life, and her husband was a gorgeous model of a man.

“It is going to be very hard without him, I know that. But it could not last forever,” Roquebrune said.

It was on 31st of October, in 2020, when Connery passed at his home in Bahamas. The death cause was revealed as, pneumonia-respiratory failure, atrial fibrillation, and old age. Connery was at the age of 90.

Between 1962 and 1983, Connery had appeared in seven Bond movies. He was nominated for many awards, and in 1966, he received the Golden Laurel.

And for his role in 1987, “The Untouchables,” he received an Oscar Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

In 2006, Connery received the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and stated that he is now retiring, as he was receiving the award.

After his passing, his family had started the organization, The Sean Connery Foundation. In it’s website, it was stated that it “aims to accelerate positive change through strategic grantmaking to institutions in Scotland and the Bahamas.”

Connery was married twice. His first marriage was with Australian actress Diane Cilento, and he had a son from that marriage, then he married with Roquebrune, in 1975. The couple met in 1970, at a golf tournament.
