A WOMAN FOUND OUT THAT HER MOTHER IS TRYING TO SLEEP TRAIN HER BABY, SO SHE DOESN’T WANT ANYMORE FROM HER MOTHER TO TAKE CARE OF HER CHILD
A mother of the three month old baby, the Redditor that shared her stor on Reddit’s r/AITA subreddit, shared that her mother tried sleep train her baby, and for that reason she doesn’t want her mother to take care of her baby anymore.
The mother described her daughter, Lila, as a loud crier, where her nanny said, “she’s got a set of lungs on her.”
Then the OP explained that her parents are living few hours away from them. Her mother had a knee replacement, and she couldn’t leave the house on her own so they went to stay with her mother so her mother would see her granddaughter.
As they arrived, they learned that her parents bought a crib for their granddaughter, a big heavy crib that they couldn’t carry it around, and it was staying in the spare bedroom. And there was no bed in the spare bedroom, so they needed to left their daughter alone in that room, since they couldn’t carry the crib out.
And on that night, Lily woke three times at night, and the OP cared for her daughter. Then the morning came, and her parents stated that she should let her cry out, and fell asleep on herself, but OP said that she is too early for that, and they will start sleep training with Lily when she is over 5 months.
And on the next night, after the parents put their daughter to sleep, they went back to their bed. After ten minutes, their daughter started to cry, and when OP reached to her room, she saw that the door was locked. She immediately ran to her mother, and her mother said that she locked the door, and she should let her baby cry it out. Then OP went to her father, and he took the key from his wife, and opened the door.
As the morning came, as OP shared, “The next day, mum calls me a helicopter parent and says I can’t console her every time she cries. Dad and fiance tell her to leave it alone.”
After they returned to their home, her mother called the OP and asked when will they come next time. The OP stated that she needs to think, and couldn’t say that she doesn’t want to after their last experience with her locking the door.
