MOTHER LEFT HER INHERITANCE TO HER RENTERS, AS HER SON HAD LEFT HER AS SHE WAS SICK

Teresa was feeling lonely, as her sons wouldn’t call her or visit her. So she decided to take a single mother and her daughter as her renters. As they spend time together, they had formed a family. She left her belongings to them, as she passed away. She left one thing to her sons, which they got shocked.

As Thomas, son of Teresa had went to the lawyer’s office to hear his mother’s will, he had asked, “Who are you?”

They were 18, Thomas and Walter, when they left their sick mother, as their father had lost his life many years ago. They never had visited their mother, as their excuse was that they were busy. As Teresa wanted to see her sons, they constantly stated that they were busy with their own families and works.

As she was lonely, she had take tenants, a single mother, Grace, and her daughter, Katherine. Teresa lived in the upstairs, as the mother and daughter were residing on the first floor.

She never talked about her sons, as the mother and daughter had never asked. A few months later, she passed away, as she didn’t saw her sons. But she was not alone, as Grace and Katherine were with her on her final moments.

“Thomas, that’s Grace Harris and her daughter, Katherine. They were renting a part of your mother’s house for many years,” the lawyer had explained to the sons of Teresa.

“What? Mother never said anything,” Walter responded.

“As if you ever called,” Katherine said silently, as Grace scolded her.

“Whatever. Let’s sit down and get this over with. You two are going to have to move out soon enough because we’re going to sell that house pretty quick,” Thomas said.

“Thomas, calm down. Grace and Katherine are also part of the will, and you need to respect them because your mother valued them,” Mr. Goldber, the lawyer said, as he disapproved their greedy behaviour.

The brothers were smiling, as they were thinking that they will receive everything. As Mr. Goldberg had explained Teresa’s will, they only received one dollar, each, while every other belonging of Teresa passed to Katherine and Grace.

Katherine and Grace were incredibly emotional, since they were not expecting, as they acted throught their feelings towards Teresa.

The brothers were furious, as they had learned about the will of their mother.

“This is your mother’s will. You will respect it, and boy, one dollar is way more than you deserve because she told us EVERYTHING about you. And if I may get a bit personal, you two didn’t attend the funeral. I was there. Grace and Kath were there. You should have been there!” Mr. Goldberg said, as he became angry with them too.

“You will hear from our OWN lawyer soon, you quack! We’re getting our money!” Thomas said, as he was furious.

The lawyer had assured Katherine and Grace’s safety, as he said, “Don’t worry about them. If they get close to you, call me and the police immediately,”

Grace was sad, but also happy that Teresa left the house to them, as she was afraid that she wouldn’t find a place that would want a rent that Teresa had wanted so low on price. But since she left them everything, they were a little rich now.

On the next day, Thomas and Walted had came to their door.

“I’m not afraid of calling the police on you two. Go away. This is our home now, and actually, it has been for years because we were more family to Teresa than you!” Grace had said to the brothers.

“Listen, we’re not here to fight. I understand that Mom never changed our rooms, and we were hoping to get a few of our things. Will you let us do that?” Thomas said.

“Ok, but be quick,” Grace said, as she opened the door to the brothers. And immediately, the true intentions of the brothers revealed itself, as they entered to their room.

“Ok, so what can we do?” Walter asked to Thomas.
“We have to find some kind of evidence that that woman lied to our mother and convinced her to change her will. We’ll have to talk to her and record it,” Thomas said.

Then they found a letter on the bed, as they were searching the room.

“Dear Sons,
Don’t you dare try to take anything from Grace and Katherine! You don’t deserve a penny of my money since you were too good to spend time with me in the past decades. You already have your father’s inheritance. That’s more than enough. That woman and her daughter were my only family. They cared for me when I was ill. They celebrated Christmas with me. They had dinner with me every night, and they loved me just as I loved them.
Now, you two are my sons. I’m your mother. I love you dearly, and I always will. But I hope you never have to live with the pain I did. I hope my grandkids never treat you like you treated me. And finally, I hope you learn from this. Be better.

Mom.”

As they had read the letter, Thomas said, “Let’s go.”

As they were leaving, they had talked with Grace, they had assured that they will never return, and never approach them to take the belongings of their mother. Grace was emotional, as she saw the brothers crying, as they were leaving.

And truly, they never saw the brothers again. Grace and Katherine never knew the letter their mother had left to her sons, and the reason the brothers had left them be.
