WOMAN FOUND OUT THAT SHE WAS STILL MARRIED TO HER EX-HUSBAND, AFTER HE PASSED AWAY

Alexandra and Kyle Walton were married for 30 years. They got married in Santa Ana, California. Together, they welcomed three children. As they were aware that they had problems in their connection, they wanted to stay together for their children.
After 30 years, they decided to divorce. Kyle moved to Anaheim. Their divorce finalized after a year. Alexandra didn’t wanted to see Kyle, besides the events that their children was involved.
As their children got married, and made them grandparents, Kyle started to have a relationship with a woman, Mary Jones, not long after their divorce. For the grandkids, Mary was a grandmother too. Alexandra had no problems with Mary Jones, as she loved her grandchildren too, but it was strange for her that Kyle never married with her.
After 18 years, phone of Alexandra had rang. The one who called was her daughter, Stephaine.

“Mom, Dad passed away last night,” Stephanie said.
“Oh, dear. I’m so sorry. How are Henry and Silvia?” she responded.
“Much the same as me. Can you come to Anaheim for the funeral?” asked Stephanie.
“Darling, I don’t think I should go. Mary was your father’s partner before he died. It would be inappropriate,”
“Please, Mom. We can’t do this without you. You can stay on the sidelines and watch the kids,” Stephanie said.
So Alexandra accepted, and went to the funeral. She had talked with Mary, and stated her condolences.

“Kyle’s kids really needed you here. I know it might be awkward, but it’s great that you came,” said Mary.
After a few days, when the lawyer had called for the family to let them know of the will of Kyle, they had learnt that Alexandra was supposed to be there too.
“It doesn’t make sense. Why would I go?” she said.
“I don’t know, Mom. Mr. Johnson said you had to come or the will couldn’t be read. I don’t know what’s going on,”
As they gathered at the office of the lawyer, Mr. Johnson had said, “I know you are all wondering why Mrs. Walton is here, and I’m afraid there’s a situation,”
“Mrs. Walton, we just discovered that you and Mr. Walton are still married,” said the lawyer.
Everyone got shocked, as Alexandra said, “That’s impossible, Mr. Johnson. I was there. We got divorced,”
“I’m sorry to say that the attorney you used back then did not file the proper paperwork, which presents a big problem,”
“You are Mr. Walton’s widow and are entitled to half his assets regardless of his latest will.”
Mary got angered, as she said, “No! I am Kyle’s real widow! This is unfair! We’ve been together for ten years! I can’t believe this! Will I get kicked out of my house?”

“Mary, calm down. No one is going to kick you out of Dad’s house,” Henry said.
“Right, Mom?”
“Mr. Johnson, please explain a little more. Is his current will completely invalid?”
“Not exactly. But your marriage contract takes precedence. If you want the assets, they are yours. Ms. Jones could try to contest the decision based on Kyle’s will, but California law will most likely side with you,” said the lawyer.
“Mom, what are you going to do?” Stephanie asked to her mother.
“I don’t want his assets at all. I want his latest will to be executed as he desired,” said Alexandra, as people in the room relieved with her words.
“Is there something else I should do now, Mr. Johnson? Do we have to file for divorce again even if Kyle is gone?”
“No, Mrs. Walton. You don’t have to do that at all. I just need to inform everyone of this technicality just in case,” said the lawyer.
“Well, then. I should go. I’ll wait for you outside, Stephanie,” Alexandra said to her daughter.
The will of Kyle had divided between his family members, and Mary. When her daughter had asked to their mother what she is thinking, Alexandra said, “I’m glad, honey.”
