Famous actress, Alicia Silverstone was criticised over her parenting stlye, as she had stated on The Ellen Fisher Podcast, back in 2022, she stated that she is co-sleeping with her 11-year-old son, who is 12 now, Bear Blu Jarecki.
After her statement, she had received a huge backlash, that she was a bad parent, and it was wrong to sleep with a son that is aged 11.
She had responded to those comments as she said, “The things I’m doing I’m not inventing. I didn’t invent any of it. It’s just me following nature. Bear and I still sleep together. If you were in any kind of wild setting where there are animals if you put your baby over there, your baby is going to get eaten, so it’s not ideal for your baby to be over there,”
She had stated that she is a “natural and loving mama”, and added that “our society is scared of nature and love.”
She explained that, “Every choice I make is either based on instinct or deep research,” and added, “I think being a mom is the most precious, most unbelievable experience in this world, and it’s not for everyone, and anyone who doesn’t want to do it shouldn’t do it, but for me, it’s so divine.”
She later on stated that it is not wrong to sleep with her son, and gived an example that, she wouldn’t put him in a separate tent if they were out camping together.
She had talked about her parenting stlye in the book she had published back in 2014, The Kind Mama.
And in 2020, in the interview of TODAY, she had stated that with her son, she, “wake up and snuggle for two or three hours laughing and talking”
Her son is from her ex-husband, Christopher Jarecki, whom she met in 1997, married in 2005. Their marriage lasted seven years, and the couple got divorced in 2011.
She had stated that until their divorce, she wanted more children. And as she continued in their marriage, she decided not to because she started to feel that it was failing.
“I didn’t want to have one right away because I was so in love with my Bear. I wanted to … squeeze every little moment out of him, so it wasn’t until he was like 3 that I was ready to make another baby and then I didn’t have a partner, so that’s why I don’t have four babies,” she had stated in the podcast that happened in 2022.
