PARENTS COULDN’T BELIEVE THEIR EYES WHEN THEY SAW THEIR NEWBORN DAUGHTER, THAT BORN WITH A SKIN CONDITION, BUT NOW, SHE’S THE “BEAUTY QUEEN” OF HER FATHER
Jennie Wilklow, and her husband, was joyful as they found out that Jennie was pregnant. She had a smooth pregnancy, and there were no difficulties in her birth, as she had a c-section on the 34th week of her pregnancy.
As their baby girl was born, the doctors were terrified, and the room was silent. Jennie had thought that there was a problem with her daughter.
When she asked if her daughter is okay, the hospital staff had relieved her that she is okay, as she went to sleep with the affect of her drugs.
And they had proceeded to inform the father of newborn girl, as she was born with Harlequin Ichthyosis. But as her father had seen his daughter, Anna Wilklow, he was shocked. And the hospital members were not experienced enough to deal with her condition.
They had changed their hospital, where they could get help from a more experienced place. While on the process, Jennie still didn’t knew that her daughter was born with a skin condition.
But the hospital staff were escaping from the questions of Jennie, who is still unknown about her daughter’s condition, and she stopped asking, with the fear that she would hear something she didn’t want.
“I felt as if somehow by wanting a girl so badly I had jinxed myself, and I wasn’t ready to hear bad news. I wasn’t ready for my life to be different. I just wasn’t ready.” She said.
When she learnt the condition of her daughter, she had thought that they could fix her.
“It’s bad.” Her husband said to Jennie. But continued as, “Jennie, I looked in her eyes, and she has the most beautiful soul.”
Jennie was shocked too, when she saw her daughter. She had stated that she was “broken” with the situation.
But when she looked her eyes, she rememebered her husband’s words. “Jennie, I looked in her eyes, and she has the most beautiful soul.”
But the parents had a long way with their daughter, there were many challenges in their lives now.
For a few weeks, they stayed in the hospital, since she needed to stay in a humidity-controlled box, because when she was faced with outside, her skin was drying.
“The following two months were the worst because I felt alone and broken, consumed by despair. My sister, mother, husband, and friends took over, and the only clothes she could wear were fleece pajamas.” She said about her post birth.
And now, after six years, they are calling their daughter, “beauty Queen”, as they are supporting the people with the same condition.
Against the odds, she had reached her sixth birthday. On 24th of September, 2023, she had celebrated her birthday, with a Pokemon themed party. On their social media account, they had shared the moments of her birthday party.
