WHO IS THIS ACTRESS THAT LOST HER MOTHER AT THE AGE OF 3, THEN CREATED HER OWN “PERFECT” FAMILY
The actress was born in 23rd of January, 1964, in Santa Monica, California, into the two iconic Tinseltown entertainers.
She studied theater at UCLA, and had received her breakthrough with the 1985 movie, “Ghoulies”. She was working as a waitress, as she went to acting classes.
She had some short term TV roles, but that changed with “ER,” which she was successful in her role and that brought her the show, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”.
She was giving life to, Detective Olivia Benson in the show. She was a lovable, empathetic, passionate, and warm investigator, who worked on domestic violence, child victimization, and sex offenses.
She was doing her own stunts, and working hard on her show. That brought her the title highest paid actress on TV, at some time in her life.
Through the show, she had received Emmy and Golden Globe awards. The people who lived through, experienced the cases which was talking in the show, were in love with the series, as they were seeing themselves. Sometimes they had wrote to the actress about their experiences, and that led her to create an organization, Joyful Heart Foundation.
The foundatiton had aimed to help people who suffered from domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault.
The actress we are talking about can talk five languages, English, Hungarian, Spanish, French, and Italian. The actress is no other than, 59-year-old iconic name, Mariska Hargitay.
Before she became the actress she is today, she had faced a trauma which affected her childhood a lot. A powerful impact she received from the fate, her mother, Jayne Mansfield, passed away when she was just three years old.
Sadly, Mansfield passed away on the 29th of June, 1967, where she was involved in a car crash which took her. As it is reported, Mansfield hit a trailer truck, and lost her life at the scene.
The outlets had stated that Mariska and Mansfield’s other children were present in the car, when the crash happened. Mansfield had an interview at New Orleans, Louisiana, and they were trying to arrive there for the morning.
As Mansfield passed away in the car, Mariska and her siblings survived the horrible car crash that took their mother. Losing her mother at that age had scarred Mariska, as she stated, “Losing my mother at such an early age is the scar of my soul.”
After losing their mother, Mariska and her siblings went on and started a new life with their famous actor, businessman, and former bodybuilder father, Mickey Hargitay. Mickey had tried his best, and provided a normal childhood for his children, where they had attended to sports activities, and do what normal children would do.
As Mickey was divorced from Jayne at that time, he was married with his third wife, Ellen Sian Hargitay, who was the stepmother of Mariska and her brothers.
Ellen had loved them as the children were her own. As Mariska stated, “She really claimed us. She never had biological kids of her own, and to this day we are her kids…we were blessed that she really embraced us and loved us so quickly…”
Mariska stated the importance of a maternal figure in their life, after they experienced such a horrendous tragedy, as they lost their mother at very early age. Their father, Mickey, had passed away in 2006, when he was 80.
Mariska stated, “…we keep going. And then we transform it. That’s been kind of my superpower, and the gift of having trauma early in life…”
She stated that she embraced the trauma, and learned to live with it. As it was hard for her, she sometimes still gets lost in her emotional world, and finds her way back.
In 2004, Hargitay married with her husband, Peter Hermann. After grieving and experiencing traumatic events, she had started her own family with her husband.
The couple had met at the set of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” and they liked each other. Peter stated, “I never thought I would have this much laughter in my life. Not just actual laughter. But also the way that Mariska is the embodiment of laughter—of joy.”
Now, their marriage is close to stand for two decades, and the couple talked about how they are keeping their relationship alive. Peter stated that whatever they experience, and live through, they always support each other, stand together. And he explained that there are some common goals between them which they work to achieve together.
Together, they had welcomed three children, August Miklos, Amaya Josephine, and Andrew Nicolas. August was born in 2006, and Amaya and Andrew were adopted by the couple, when it was 2011.
“Our family is so perfect, or at least perfect for me. Together we’re just this whole, happy, joyful, chaotic, crazy unit. I’ve never known anything that was more right.” Mariska talked about her beautiful family.
